Figure 1 shows an air purification system (100) comprising one or more air purification units (101), wherein each of the air purification units (101) comprises: a housing (110) which bounds a channel (120) which extends between an air inlet (130) and an air outlet (140) of the housing (110); an air displacing means (150) configured to realize an airflow (L) in the channel, wherein air is drawn in via the air inlet (130) and is emitted via the air outlet (140); a UV-C lamp (160) arranged inside the housing and configured to emit ultraviolet light in the channel (120) in order to purify the air in the airflow in the channel; wherein the one or more air purification units (101) are freely placeable in a space and each purify a portion of the air in the space in recirculatory manner.
