A method for manufacturing personalised optical document security elements and the element obtained, said method comprising the use of one or more confinement surfaces (1, 2), whereby the inner face of at least one of said confinement surfaces (1, 2) contains a pattern of electrodes (4) and an alignment layer (5), placement of a liquid crystal (3) doped with at least one dichroic dye between the confinement surfaces (1, 2), application of an electric field to the electrodes (4) to orient the liquid crystal (3) depending on the voltage applied to each electrode (4), application of light to the liquid crystal (3) via the confinement surfaces (1, 2) until the liquid crystal (3) polymerises, stopping application of the electric field to the electrodes (4), such that a transparent layer of polymerised liquid crystal containing at least one personalised latent image obtained by application of the electric field to the electrodes (4) is obtained between the confinement surfaces (1, 2).
The present invention is directed towards a method for producing a foil security element for securing a document of value by means of a liquid crystalline mixture containing dichroic dyes and is furthermore directed towards the foil security element as such. Furthermore, a document of value is suggested comprising the foil security element along with an apparatus for provision of such a security element and a computer program product.
The invention relates to a production method of an optical element for document security, with multiple images which can be viewed depending on the manner in which said element is observed. The method comprises the following steps: defining different zones in the internal face of a first confinement structure; inducing different alignment directions for the defined zones; defining a second alignment structure, wherein the second structure is a polarising means with multiple patterns; positioning a liquid crystal between the first and the second structures; and polymerising the liquid crystal, forming a sheet. The images can be viewed by means of a polarised light source or a polarising sheet.

The invention relates to a production method and to a device for achieving document security using various latent images on each face. The invention comprises: depositing, according to an established pattern, at least one layer of metal material, forming a holographic element on at least one part of one of the faces of a confinement substrate; defining different zones on the face of the substrate; inducing different alignment directions for orienting a liquid crystal according to the previously defined zones; doping the liquid crystal with at least one dichroic dye; placing the liquid crystal over at least one confinement substrate, covering the holographic element; adding a second confinement substrate forming a sandwich-type structure; and polymerising the liquid crystal forming a sheet.
