A modular building structure is disclosed. The modular building structure has a frame obtained by assembling a plurality of module frames. A plurality of connecting knots join module frames adjacent at corners and connect the module frames either to a flat basement or to a roof structure. Adjacent beams of side-by-side module frames and the respective panels are both spaced apart by said connecting knots, so as to create an air gap between adjacent panels of adjacent module frames. The ducts of said service plants are arranged in said air gaps between adjacent panels and in said passing-through channels and constrained to a respective module frame. Quick connections for connecting said ducts related to a module frame to ducts of another module frame placed side-by-side thereto are also provided.

It is desired to have a modular building structure with advantages over previous modular building structures, e.g. easier transportation. In one embodiment, there is provided a modular building structure obtained by assembling a plurality of module frames. The module frames have a substantially parallelepiped-like shape and comprise longitudinal, vertical and transversal beams which join at respective angles. A plurality of connecting knots join adjacent module frames at said angles. Each connecting knot has an inner core having six walls facing two by two and defining planes orthogonal to each other. Each wall has an opening so that the openings form together three orthogonal channels intersecting at the inner core. At each opening, the knot comprises corresponding supporting plates, each lying on the respective plane, and extending beyond the planes defined by at least one or more walls, thereby defining a respective corner or side rest.
