Abrégé

The invention relates to an optically variable security element having a motif region. A plurality of differently oriented first facets and a plurality of differently oriented second facets are arranged in the motif region. Each of the first and second facets defines a normal vector having a first orientation component and a second orientation component. The optically variable security element defines an x-y plane. The first facets comprise first sub-wavelength structures. The second facets comprise second sub-wavelength structures. The first sub-wavelength structures are different from the first sub-wavelength structures. In the motif region at least one motif is visible to an observer in a depiction and with a colour impression. The depiction of the at least one motif changes for the observer as the optically variable security element is tilted about a first axis. The colour impression of the at least one motif changes for the observer as the optically variable security element is tilted about a second axis. The second axis is not parallel to the first axis. The colour impression of the at least one motif is determined by the first orientation components. The depiction of the at least one motif is determined by the second orientation components. The first orientation components of the first facets and of the second facets are different from one another.

Abrégé

The invention relates to an optically variable representation element (12) with a reflective surface region (24) which, upon observation in reflected light, generates a respective three-dimensional representation (14, 16) for at least two different observation directions (44, 46), with the three-dimensional representations (14, 16) at least partially overlapping and having different colors at least regionally within the overlap region. In this case, provision is made for the reflective surface region (24) to contain a respective multiplicity of reflective facets (34, 36) in a first and a second partial region which at least partially overlap one another, said reflective facets being oriented such that the facets (34) in the first partial region generate a first three-dimensional representation (14) with a surface that jumps out and/or is set back in relation to its actual spatial shape for the observer from the first observation direction (44) and the facets (36) in the second partial region generate a second three-dimensional representation (16) with a surface that jumps out and/or is set back in relation to its actual spatial shape for the observer from the second observation direction (46). In the overlap region of the first and the second partial regions, the facets (34, 36) of the reflective surface region (24) are provided at least regionally with sub-wavelength structures (38) which generate the different colors of the three-dimensional representations (14, 16).

The invention relates to a method for verifying an authenticity feature comprising a storage phosphor, a verification device, an authenticity feature, and a value document comprising an authenticity feature. The authenticity feature includes a storage phosphor. According to the disclosed method, in one step, the storage phosphor is subjected to at least one query sequence, each of which comprises at least a first reading process and a second reading process. Furthermore, at least a first read measured value and a second read measured value are acquired which are based on the detection of an optical emission in response to the first and the second associated reading process, respectively. In another step, a time series of the read measured values is established, said time series being associated with the at least one query sequence and comprising at least the first read measured value associated with the first reading process and the second read measured value associated with the second reading process. The time series of the read measured values which is associated with the query sequence is analyzed in another step in order to determine a dynamic behavior from said time series of the read measured values under the associated query sequence.

Abrégé

The invention relates to a security element having a magnetic coding composed of magnetic coding elements. At least one of the magnetic coding elements has a grating-shaped magnetic region, which is formed by a plurality of grating strips, which extend parallel to each other and are made of magnetic material and which each have a magnetic anisotropy. Because of the magnetic anisotropy of the grating strips, the magnetisation direction of the coding element can differ from the direction of the applied magnetic field. Because the resulting magnetic signals that the grating-shaped magnetic regions provide cannot be reproduced by conventional magnetic regions, said coding elements increase the counterfeiting security of the security element.

Abrégé

The invention relates to a method for checking valuable documents, which method makes it possible to check the similarity of the intensity spectrum of a valuable document to be checked to a reference spectrum. In order to check the similarity of the intensity spectrum absorbed by the valuable document to be checked to the reference spectrum, the absorbed intensity spectrum itself is not compared with the reference spectrum, but rather a corrected intensity spectrum which has been adapted to the reference spectrum and results from the absorbed intensity spectrum by means of a linear correction. The correction parameters of the linear correction function are determined by adapting the linearly corrected intensity spectrum to the reference spectrum. Adaptation results in fluctuations in the absorbed intensity spectrum, which are caused by the measuring technique, being at least partially compensated for.

Abrégé

The invention relates to a security element comprising at least one light- permeable substrate (2) on which a substantially opaque, rastered layer (1) of raster elements (3) is placed. According to the invention, at least one thin, continuous, substantially opaque line (4) that has the shape of at least one alphanumeric character, a graphic element, or a pattern is arranged within the substantially opaque, rastered layer of raster elements. Such lines have a minimum width of 0.1 to 5 mm, preferably 0.2 to 0.7 mm, even more preferably about 0.5 mm. Planar zones without recesses can also be used instead of lines such that the formed alphanumeric character, pattern, or graphic element is visible only in rear illumination but not in front illumination. The image displayed by the security element in front illumination is thus different from the image displayed in rear illumination, at least when viewed from the side of the substantially opaque, rastered layer.

Abrégé

A secure document value includes a sheet-like substrate and a thin film, optically variable security device on the substrate. The security device includes a carrier and a multilayer coating on the carrier. The multilayer coating includes a dielectric-metal stack having an exposed reflective layer that is tailored after manufacture to include security data proprietary to the issuer of the document of value thereby to deter forgery. Since the security device is tailored after manufacture, the end supplier of the document of value does not need to provide the proprietary information to the manufacturer of the security device for incorporation therein. This also enables the manufacturer of the security device to stockpile material until such time the material must be customized to include security data. This results in shorter lead times and better response to market demands.
