The invention relates to a method that produces cutin from plant waste, which is thermally stable at temperatures greater than 200 ºC. The devised method requires grinding the plant waste, adding an alkaline solution and heating with microwaves to a frequency between 2.20 GHz and 2.60 GHz with a wavelength between 12 cm and 12.5 cm for at least 105 minutes and at a temperature of at least 95 ºC. The supernatant produced is separated and an acid is added to it in order to produce a solution with a pH between 3.5 and 5.5. The cutin precipitates after maintaining the solution for at least 4 hours at, at least, 4 ºC. Thus, the cutin precipitate is separated from the supernatant and optionally dried.
