abcc) generating coherent beams directed towards a target (T). The phase modulators (14a, 14b and 14c) allow adjustment of relative phase offsets of the beams. A detector (16) monitors an intensity of the radiation impinging on an area of the target (T). A controller (18) receives the intensity parameter and controls a phase adjustment of the beams according to a deterministic (i.e., quantitative) measurement of a phase offset of each beam relative to a representative phase of the sum of all the other beams. This is achieved by using interferometric techniques, referred to herein as Target In-the-Loop Interferometry (TILI).

The present invention is directed to a method for reducing the guard time of a Mobile ad-hoc networking (MANET) system during reception, according to which a transceiver architecture that is provided at each node, includes a combination of a hopping transmitter and a plurality of hopping narrowband independent receivers that are capable of receiving and processing the entire operational band assigned to the system, at once, and that include channel frequencies, dynamically selected within a wide operating bandwidth. Alternatively, the transceiver architecture includes a non-hopping wideband receiver capable of receiving and processing the entire operational band assigned to the system, at once. Several channels, arbitrarily spread over a frequency band assigned to the system are simultaneously received, while keeping the architecture of the MANET system. The transmission hopping patterns are determined to use the least possible number of frequencies. For each transmitting node, time slots in which a counterpart receiver at each remaining active node is not transmitting and a frequency channel in which no other active node transmits are found. The transmission frequency is then determined and if no other node had chosen the same time slot, and if the transceiver is not transmitting in the slot, the transmission is received, while allowing relay nodes to transmit simultaneously, using different channels. Whenever a plurality of narrowband independent receivers is used for reception, guard time is allocated to time slots on demand. Otherwise, no guard time is allocated to the time slots.

The range to the object is determined from the location of the reflection in the partial images. Successive range measurements are used to determine whether a collision with the object is imminent.

NETWORK-BASED REAL TIME REGISTERED AUGMENTED REALITY FOR MOBILE DEVICES
A method of operating a mobile device with a camera, a display and a position sensor to provide a display of supplementary information aligned with a view of a scene. One or more image obtained from the camera is uploaded to a remote server together with corresponding data from the position sensor. SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR RECONSTRUCTION OF RANGE IMAGES FROM MULTIPLE TWO-DIMENSIONAL IMAGES USING A RANGE BASED VARIATIONAL METHOD
Reconstruction of range images from multiple two-dimensional images uses 2D images of a scene, defining a reference 2D image and then defining an initial generated range image associated with the reference 2D image. The initial generated range image includes depth information for at least a portion of the pixels of the reference 2D image. A cost-functional is provided to calculate a cost reflecting how well the generated range image matches a set of criteria. ASSISTING VEHICLE NAVIGATION IN SITUATIONS OF POSSIBLE OBSCURED VIEW
Restrictions of conventional techniques for assisting navigation of a vertical takeoff and landing vehicle, in circumstances where there is a possibility of the view being obscured, can be overcome by using a three-dimensional model in combination with image processing to determine which segments of a landing zone are visible and which segments are obscured. A pilot is provided with a view of the landing zone that is a combination of live images and simulated segments from the three- dimensional model. Whereas conventional techniques focus on generating better- simulated views, an implementation of this invention includes generating a view of an obscured landing zone that includes live imagery. Fusing live imagery with other sensor information to generate a view allows the pilot to use as much real information as possible, and facilitates increased pilot confidence that the pilot can proceed and execute a successful landing.

A system and method for estimating the range to a target is based on logging images and related information as a vehicle is moving. When the vehicle is at a first observation point and an event of interest occurs at a target location, the log can be accessed to provide an image and related information of the target from a time in the past. This logged information provides a prior observation point, or in other words a second observation point, to use for triangulation, eliminating the need and time required to move the vehicle and acquire a second observation point. Using the current information from the first observation point, and the logged information of a prior observation point, triangulation can be used to estimate the range from the current observation point to the target.
