The connections are staggered as between adjacent cables to create an evenly spaced, open mesh pattern when the wire mesh is tensioned perpendicularly to the longitudinal axes of the cables when initially laid along side one another. A method and apparatus for calculating line sag in a span of a conductor is provided. The method includes using a portable smart device having one or more accelerometers and running a line sag application on the processing device.
