A self-tapping screw for soft metals having low required initial driving torque, high axial force in the tightened state, small axial force reduction due to heat or the like, and a low manufacturing cost because no intricate and expensive mold is required, and also has an advantage that an amount of produced chip powder is small. The self-tapping screw includes a tapered smaller diameter part at an end of a shaft. The smaller diameter part is inserted and driven into a pilot hole formed in a soft metal to form a female screw in the pilot hole. In the shaft and the smaller diameter part, a continuous male screw with a constant pitch is formed. A thread ridge of the male screw of the smaller diameter part is provided with multiple sets of a largest diameter part and an increasing diameter part, the largest diameter part having a stepped part at a position on a trailing side of the largest diameter part during driven turning of the screw, the increasing diameter part having a gradually increasing diameter from the stepped part to a next largest diameter part.
Provided is a self-tapping screw for soft metals for which the initial screw-in torque is low, the axial force when fastened is high, reduction in axial force due to thermal effects, etc. is low, complex and expensive molds are unnecessary and the screw can be manufactured inexpensively, and the amount of chips generated is limited. The self-tapping screw is provided with a tapered reduced diameter section (3) on the tip of a shaft section (2) and forms a female thread in a pilot hole formed in a soft metal by being inserted and screwed into the pilot hole. A seal washer of the present invention includes a metal washer body including a center hole, an outer resilient material projecting from an outer periphery of the washer body to a location lower than a lower surface of the washer body, and an inner resilient material provided on an inner periphery of the washer body which faces the center hole. If a fastening force in an axial direction is applied, since the lower surface of the washer body metal-touches on a mating member, loosening does not occur unlike a conventional technique. In addition, since no further compression load is applied to the resilient material, a phenomenon that the resilient material is deformed in a crushed manner does not occur.

A pierce nut used for a high-strength steel plate according to the invention includes a female screw thread portion formed in the center of a nut body, an annular piercing portion projecting around the female thread portion, and an annular outer peripheral projection extending from the periphery of the nut body. The outer periphery of the piercing portion forms a first sloping surface increasing in diameter toward the leading end thereof, and also the inner peripheral surface of the outer peripheral projection forms a second sloping surface increasing in diameter toward the leading end thereof. Serrations are formed on the second sloping surface. Even where a mating member is a high-strength steel plate, the pierce nut according to the invention can ensure the same peeling strength and rotation torque as with a conventional nut, without deformation of the pierce nut itself.
This seal washer is configured in such a manner that an outer elastic material (17) is provided to the outer peripheral section of a metallic washer body (10), which is provided with a center hole (11), so as to protrude further downward than the lower surface of the washer body (10), and in such a manner that an inner elastic material (20) is provided to the inner peripheral section of the washer body (10), the inner peripheral section facing the center hole (11). Provided is a nut having a seal washer, with which loosening does not occur, which has stable water-stopping functions, and which has excellent fastening properties. This nut having a seal washer has a seal washer (2) attached to the bearing surface side of a nut body (1). The seal washer (2) has a stepped-shape in which the lower surface (7) of an outer peripheral section is higher than the lower surface (8) of an inner peripheral section. The lower surface (8) of the inner peripheral section serves as a metal touch surface with another member during fastening, and an elastic seal material (10) which protrudes further downward than the lower surface (8) of the inner peripheral section is provided on the lower surface (7) of the outer peripheral section.
This pierce nut for a high-strength steel sheet is equipped with: an internally threaded part (11) formed in the center of the nut main body (10); a protruding circular piercing part (12) provided at the periphery of the internally threaded part; and a circular outer circumferential protrusion (13) provided at the outer circumference of the nut main body (10). The outer circumferential surface of the piercing part (12) forms a first inclined surface (15) the tip end of which has a larger diameter, and the inner circumferential surface of the outer circumferential protrusion (13) forms a second inclined surface (16) the tip end of which has a larger diameter, and serrations (17) are formed in this second inclined surface (16). The invention is directed to a method for caulking a caulking member such as a caulking nut or a caulking bolt to a metal plate. The metal plate is arranged on a die having a caulking protrusion formed on an end surface thereof, the caulking member is arranged on the metal plate while a position of a caulking recess portion of the caulking member is aligned with the caulking protrusion, and a punch is brought closer to the die so that the caulking member is pressed against the metal plate. While an upper surface of the metal plate in a position opposite to the caulking recess portion is restricted by a downward protruding portion of the punch or by the caulking member, the metal plate is plastically fluidized into the caulking recess portion, so that the caulking member is caulked without boring a hole in the metal plate.
Provided is an anti-seizing bolt capable of preventing seizing caused by the infiltration of sputter and other foreign material as well as seizing caused by oblique insertion. An incompletely threaded part (12), the outer diameter d of which is larger than the inner diameter D1 of female threads (20) and smaller than (D+D1)/2 (where D is the nominal diameter of the bolt), is formed across a pitch of one or greater at the tip of a regular threaded part (11), which is formed on a bolt shaft part. In addition, a vertical groove (14) is formed in this incompletely threaded part (12) to cut away sputter and other foreign material.
A nut capable of engaging with a bolt (10) having a male-threaded portion of external diameter d and core diameter d1, the nut having a structure in which an incompletely threaded female portion (22) having an internal diameter dimension D larger than (d+d1)/2 and smaller than d, is formed having a pitch of 1-3 on the end of the bolt insertion side of a female-threaded portion (21) formed on the nut body (20). A method for fitting a fitting member, such as a fitting nut or fitting bolt, onto a metal plate (2). The metal plate (2) is positioned on a die (51) having a fitting protrusion (51b) formed on an end face thereof; a fitting member is positioned over this metal plate, such that the location of a fitting recess (1b) thereof coincides with the fitting protrusion (51b); and a punch (52) is brought into proximity with the die (51), thereby pressing the fitting member against the metal plate (2). While the upper surface of the metal plate (2) at a location in opposition to the fitting recess (1b) is constrained by a lower protruding part (52b) of the punch or by the fitting member, plastic flow is induced in the metal plate within the fitting recess (1b), thereby fitting the fitting member onto the metal plate without creating a hole.
The present invention relates to a structure for mounting an interior member in a railway car body. A fastening tool assembly (10) having a spacer (20) threaded into the inner sides of a nut member (12) is mounted on a mounting rail (52) of a railway car body, and an interior member (55) is set in place. In this state, the spacer (20) is rotated to adjust the amount of protrusion from the fastening tool assembly (10), and the spacer (20) is brought in contact with the interior member (55). The interior member (55) is then mounted on the mounting rail (52) by a fastening bolt (30).

The female screw component is used in combination with the male bolt (20), which does not have any incomplete screw sections, and no matter what direction the bolt is inserted from, seizing does not arise. Furthermore, it is yet more preferable for the location of the starting end of the female threads (13) of the female screw component body (10) to be staggered from the location of the starting end of the protrusion (15) in the circumferential direction.
To provide an anti cross-thread bolt which prevents itself from being cross-threaded without the need for correcting its posture by a pilot portion. The bolt is screwed into a female screw having a nominal diameter D and an inner diameter D1. At the tip of a regular thread part 11 formed on a bolt shank, a small-diameter thread part 12 is formed by one pitch or more, the small-diameter thread part having an outer diameter d which is larger than an inner diameter D1 of the female screw and smaller than (D+D1)/2. When the bolt is obliquely screwed into the female screw, the diameter thread part 12 is brought into contact with the female screw at one point, but the bolt is allowed to rotate around the point. Thus, the occurrence of cross-threading is prevented.

A fastening device for tightening a first member (Pl) and a second member (P2) spaced from each other while keeping them spaced at their mutual distance is provided. The fastening device includes: a nut (5) fixed to the first member (Pl); a holder (4) fixed to the first member (Pl); an adjuster nut (3) incorporated within the holder (4) to be unrotatable but movable in an axial direction; a bolt (1) inserted from the second member (P2) toward the first member (Pl); and a collar bolt (2) temporarily screwed to a male screw portion (12) of the bolt (1) via torque-transmitting means.
A hook attaching unit in accordance with the invention is constituted by a hook member which is rotatably attached to an end portion of a base plate, a bolt with a flange inserted to a bolt insertion hole of the base plate, and a resin cover member in which a cover body is connected to an annular basement portion. A bolt, wherein a small diameter guide (116) is formed at the terminal tip part of a shaft part (15) and threads (31) oppositely threaded to threads (30) formed in a fixed diameter part (115) are formed in the guide part. When the bolt (1) is inserted into a nut (100) in a tilted state and the threads (31) are engaged with the female screw part (105) of the nut (100), an effect to raise the bolt (1) occurs in the nut and, therefore, unless the bolt is positioned in a correct tightening attitude, it cannot be threaded into the nut (10). Accordingly, the bolt (1) can be securely prevented from being caught or seized into the nut (100). When the threads (31) are formed in an oppositely threaded double threaded screw, the effect can be further increased.
