Abstract

A subject discriminating apparatus discriminates a subject having an unevenness pattern on a surface of the subject. The subject discriminating apparatus includes: a transparent unit including a supporting surface supporting the subject; a light irradiation unit irradiating illumination light onto the surface of the subject through the transparent unit; an imaging unit imaging an imaging region including at least a part of the transparent unit, and generating image data; and a discrimination processing unit discriminating the subject, using the image data generated by the imaging unit. The discrimination processing unit discriminates the subject based on discrimination image data generated by correcting subject image data using correction image data. The subject image data is generated by imaging the imaging region in a state of the subject presenting in the imaging region. The correction image data is generated by imaging the imaging region free from the subject in the imaging region.

Abstract

A banknote processing apparatus according to the present invention includes a banknote separating and feeding portion which separates, from banknotes, one feed-out banknote closest to a banknote holding portion, and feeds out the feed-out banknote. The banknote separating and feeding portion includes a feed roller, a separating roller, a kick-on roller, and auxiliary rollers. The auxiliary rollers are positioned on an opposite side of the kick-on roller from the feed roller, protrude onto the banknote pressing portion side beyond the banknote holding surface, and contact with the feed-out banknote. Each of the auxiliary rollers has a plurality of large diameter portions formed intermittently in a circumferential direction of the auxiliary roller. The auxiliary rollers are positioned on the same axis and apart from each other such that phases of mutually adjacent auxiliary rollers in a rotation direction of the auxiliary rollers are offset from each other.

Abstract

A coin detecting apparatus has: a light source for emitting a light beam onto either of two surfaces of a coin; a half mirror for splitting the light beam reflected on the surface of the coin into a transmitted light beam and a reflected light beam; a full area sensor for obtaining a full image of the surface of the coin in accordance with one of the transmitted light beam and the reflected light beam; and a regional area sensor for obtaining a partial image of the surface of the coin in accordance with the other one of the transmitted light beam and the reflected light beam. By doing this, it is possible to provide a coin detecting apparatus capable of improving accuracy in coin detection and shortening time therein.

Abstract

A paper sheet storage and payout device, which, by winding and unwinding tape between a first take-up drum on which the tape is wound from one end, and a second take-up drum on which the tape is wound from the other end, with paper sheets placed thereupon, stores and pays out paper sheets. A separation mechanism is provided on the payout side of the tape from the second take-up drum, and during payout separates the paper sheets from the wrapping peripheral region of the tape wrapped around the second take-up drum. This separation mechanism is provided with a separation member which separates paper sheets from the wrapping peripheral region, and a sliding portion which holds the separation member, and which slides so as to track the amount of tape wrapped around the second take-up drum by bring into contact with the wrapping peripheral region a guide roller.

Abstract

A coin discriminating method includes steps of irradiating a surface of a coin with light, photoelectrically detecting light reflected by the surface of the coin, producing detected pattern data of the surface of the coin, binarizing corresponding reference pattern data so that “1” is assigned to pixel data having a signal intensity level equal to or higher than a predetermined signal intensity level and “0” is assigned to pixel data having a signal intensity level lower than the predetermined signal intensity level to produce reference bright portion pattern data consisting of “1” pixel data and reference dark portion pattern data consisting of “0” pixel data, extracting bright portion pattern data consisting of pixels corresponding to pixels included in the reference bright portion pattern data and dark portion pattern data consisting of pixels corresponding to pixels included in the reference dark portion pattern data from the detected pattern data, and discriminating whether or not the surface of the coin is damaged to higher than the predetermined level by comparing the difference between the bright portion data signal intensity average value and dark portion data signal intensity average value with a threshold value of coins of a corresponding denomination.
