A handheld work apparatus has a drive motor which drives a work tool and a generator. The work apparatus has a first electrical load and a connectable second electrical load. The generator provides the electrical power for the simultaneous operation of the two loads. The work apparatus has a control unit for controlling the power supplied to the first electrical load. In order to supply approximately the same power independent of voltage fluctuations, a voltage monitoring circuit is provided which, in a first operating state, sets a first signal sequence for operating the first load and, in a second operating state, sets a different second signal sequence for operating the first load. The mean power of the first signal sequence and that of the other second signal sequence are approximately equal.

In an arrangement of a power tool and a carrying system, the carrying system has a support strap and a releasable fastening device for attaching the power tool to the support strap. The carrying system has an actuating device that actuates the releasable fastening device from a fastening position into a release position. The fastening device has a pivotable hook that in the fastening position is hooked to an eye and secures the power tool on the carrying system. When the carrying system is arranged on a user and the power tool is secured on the carrying system and the fastening device is actuated from the fastening position into the release position, the hook is pivoted such that the eye slides out of the hook because of the weight of the power tool.

HANDHELD WORK APPARATUS HAVING A CONTROL UNIT FOR AN ELECTRIC HEATING ELEMENT
The invention relates to a handheld work apparatus such as a chain saw having at least one combustion engine for driving a work tool. For the operation of the combustion engine, an air/fuel mixture is supplied to the latter via a carburetor, which has an electrical heating element for heating to a given temperature. In order to achieve an exact temperature control, an ohmic resistance value of the heating element in dependence on temperature is stored in a memory. A current flowing through the heating element and a voltage drop at the heating element are measured and used to calculate a current resistance of the heating element. The current ohmic resistance value is compared to the value stored in the memory in order to turn off the heating element in dependence on the result of the comparison. Advantageously, no temperature sensor is needed.

A device for supplying water to a cutting wheel of a hand-held cut-off machine has a water-conducting line and a valve arrangement arranged in the line. The valve arrangement has a shut-off valve for controlling the water flow flowing through the line. The shut-off valve is actuated as a function of an operating signal of the cut-off machine such that in operation of the cut-off machine the water flow through the line is released by the shut-off valve. The shut-off valve interrupts the water flow through the line when the operating signal is absent.

The circumferential wall and the two sidewalls are a monolithic component made of cast light metal. The circumferential wall in a circumferential direction has at least over sections thereof a first integral thicker portion. The two sidewalls are thinner than the first integral thicker portion. Preferably, the protective cover is made of diecast magnesium.
A protective shield for a trimmer having a cutting head that is rotatable about an axis of rotation and supports a cutting thread that rotates about an axis of rotation with the cutting head and determines a cutting circle, covers at least partially the cutting circle. The protective cover has a base member and a cutting-to-length blade arranged on the base member so as to be positioned circumferentially relative to a cutting circle of the rotating cutting thread. The cutting-to- length blade has a cutting edge that, relative to the axis of rotation of the rotating cutting thread, is arranged in an axially displaced position displaced in an axial direction relative to the cutting circle. A device for axially deflecting the rotating cutting thread out of the cutting circle to the cutting edge is provided.
