This document describes cleaning cards for cleaning the interior of media transport devices, methods of manufacturing such cleaning cards, and methods of using such cleaning cards. The cards include a first layer of a substrate having a cleaning sublayer and a base sublayer, along with a second layer having a cleaning sublayer and a base sublayer. The base sublayers are positioned against each other at a plurality of contact areas. A plurality of pockets within which the base sublayers do not contact each other are positioned between the base sublayers so that each pocket forms a raised cleaning element in each of the cleaning sublayers. Each of the pockets is bounded by one or more of the contact areas.

PARTIALLY COMPRESSED CLEANING SUBSTRATE FOR MEDIA TRANSPORT DEVICE
This document describes cleaning tools, methods of manufacturing cleaning tools, and methods of using cleaning tools, for cleaning a media transport device. The cleaning tool may include a cleaning card comprising a first core layer, as well as a first cleaning layer attached to the first core layer. The first core layer and the first cleaning layer form (a) a cleaning element having a first thickness and in which the core layer is in a relaxed state, and (b) an intermediate area that has a second thickness that is less than the first thickness and in which the core layer is in a compressed state.
A cleaning device for cleaning a media transport device includes a core layer, a cleaning surface, and an embossment having at least one surface slit across an extended surface of the embossment. The cleaning device may be manufactured by contacting laminating a cleaning surface to at least one side of a core layer and applying heat and/or pressure to form one or more compressible and resilient embossments. The cleaning device may be used to clean a media transport device by inserting a cleaning tool having a core layer, cleaning surface, and an embossment into a media transport device such that an electrical contact comes in contact with the embossment.
A cleaning tool and method for cleaning a media transport device, the cleaning tool comprising: a card comprising a substantially planar surface that extends along a machine direction and a transverse direction; and a first raised surface element that extends from a first side of the card; wherein the first raised surface element comprises a first scraping element that is positioned between a forward edge and a peak of the first raised surface element.

Wipe cartridge for dispensing roll wipes includes a housing comprising a first end, a second end, a sidewall, and a slit that extends along the sidewall. The slit maintains a seal to the housing. A roll of wipe material is wound around a core that has a longitudinal axis that is parallel to the slide, and the material may exit the housing through the slit. Wipe dispensers incorporating such cartridges are also disclosed.
A system and method for cleaning a media transport device includes a cleaning card having a first end portion and a second end portion. The system may also include a handled cleaning card holder. The handled cleaning card holder is configured to secure the cleaning card at a first end portion and allow access to the second end portion of the cleaning card for use in cleaning. The cleaning card may configured to be rotatable at least 180° within or upon the handled cleaning card holder, or it may be rotated by hand to be used in at least two directions.
A system for cleaning a media transport device includes a cleaning substrate sized and configured to fit within at least a portion of a media travel pathway of the transport device. The cleaning substrate includes a cleaning face and a locking member that secures the cleaning substrate in a substantially fixed position within the transport device while the transport device is operated. The cleaning substrate also may include scarifying holes that scrape debris from media conveyors of the transport device, and flaps that fit under and clean belts of the transport device. Cleaning the transport device may include opening a section, positioning the cleaning substrate in the section without operating the media conveyors' motor, closing the section and then operating the transport device so that the media conveyors move, contact the cleaning substrate and are cleaned while the cleaning substrate remains substantially fixed within the transport device.
A system for cleaning a media transport device includes a cleaning substrate sized and configured to fit within at least a portion of a media travel pathway of the transport device. The cleaning substrate includes scarifying holes that scrape debris from media conveyors (belts and/or rollers) of the transport device. Cleaning the transport device may include positioning the cleaning substrate in the section while operating the transport device, or moving the substrate so that the scarifying holes contact the cleaning substrate and clean the belts and/or rollers.
