Abstract

The invention is directed to a process and the related plant for the permanent deposition of phosphogypsum with simultaneous permanent carbon dioxide sequestration. This process comprises a step (i) for decomposition calcium sulfate contained in the phosphogypsum with hydrogen to calcium oxide, sulfur dioxide and water at temperatures between 1.000 and 1.400 °C. Thereby, a gas stream containing the sulfur dioxide and the water and a solid stream containing the produced calcium oxide result. In a further step (ii), production of sulfuric acid takes place by converting the sulfur dioxide. In step (iii), the calcium oxide contained in the solid stream is carbonized with carbon dioxide to a calcium carbonate at temperatures between 500 and 800 °C to obtain a solid material. Finally, the solid material obtained in step (iii) is deposited in a last step (iv).

Abstract

A grid and a vat for a vat assembly of a vertical filter press such as a tower press is disclosed. The grid is provided with a topographical pattern engaging with a corresponding, inverse topographical pattern on the filtrate vat. The topographical patterns guide the filtrate flow towards a filtrate outlet and reduces the formation of vortices and turbulent flow of the filtrate, hence increasing the filtrate flow rate through the vat. Simultaneous, the topographical patterns improve secure attachment of the grid onto the vat, thereby allowing increased travel speed of the filter medium during advancement thereof. As a result, the cycle time of a filtration process may be reduced, and consequently, the overall capacity of the associated filter press is increased. Abstract

A grate plate is provided for use with a pulp lifter at a discharge end of a grinding mill. The grate plate has an outer edge, an inner edge, a leading side edge and a trailing side edge. The leading side edge and the trailing side edge have complementary shapes so that a series of grate plates can be mounted to the pulp lifter in a circular or annular array, with the leading side edge of each grate plate being adjacent the trailing side edge of an adjacent grate plate in the array. The grate plate comprises openings for passing through ground material particles of a predetermined size or smaller from the interior of the drum towards the pulp lifter. The grate plate further comprises, on a surface configured to face the interior of the cylindrical drum, one or more sections of lifter bars arranged so that the lifter bar sections on a number of adjacent grate plates complement each other to form lifter bars, wherein the lifter bar sections are shaped so that at least portions of the resulting lifter bars are inclined or curved in a first circumferential direction of the circular or annular array relative to a radial line of the array intersecting the respective lifter bar or lifter bar portion. At least portions of the complementary leading and trailing side edges of the grate plate are inclined or curved in a second circumferential direction of the array relative to a radial line of the array running through the point of intersection of the respective side edge with the outer edge. The second circumferential direction is opposite the first circumferential direction.

A filter plate frame assembly and a horizontal filter press, in which accidental over pressurization of the filter diaphragm is prevented. A filter plate frame assembly having a separate subframe is provided with a limited vertical travel with respect to the filter frame and the filter plate, such that the subframe is allowed to drop away from the filter plate when the filter chamber is opened. Abstract

A feedwell apparatus trough, plant and use. The apparatus is adapted to materials including liquids carrying suspended particles, such as slurry containing minerals. The feedwell apparatus includes a supply channel for receiving the material, a trough, a first end of which being connected in fluid communication with the supply channel. The trough has a curved shape that turns in one direction, and a series of through-openings in the wall(s) of the trough. The through-openings are arranged in the trough in unequal pattern such that the area of the through-openings in pro-portion to the corresponding area of the walls has its minimum value in portion of the trough close to the first end thereof, and the relation being arranged to grow with the distance from the first end.

Abstract

A modular screen support deck for a screening arrangement includes a first deck side having an inward facing side and an outward facing side and a second deck side having an inward facing side and an outward facing side. The first and second deck sides extend in parallel with each other to define a deck plane. A first extension structure is connected to the first deck side and extends inwardly from the first deck side. The first extension structure includes a first connection structure and a second extension structure connected to the second deck side and extending inwardly from the second deck side. The second extension structure includes a second connection structure arranged a distance from the second deck side. The support deck includes a first cross-member with a first and second ends, the first end being connected to the first connection structure and the second end being connected to the second connection structure.
