Apparatus and methods for detection of a shot firing event
A method of determining an aim point of a firearm or simulated firearm at a time of firing by continuously pulsing a laser coaxially aligned with a barrel of the firearm or simulated firearm. The aim point is then continuously detected by a camera system observing the target. A shot firing event is detected and the last detected laser pulse location on the target prior to the shot firing event is determined. The aim point of the firearm or simulated firearm at the time of firing is extrapolated from the last detected laser pulse location and at least one laser pulse location prior to the last laser pulse location.

Method and apparatus for rendering a 3-dimensional scene
Provided herein are methods and systems to provide for parallax correction for multiple eye-points in a single viewpoint within a Homogeneous 3-Dimensional (3D) virtual environment. In preferred embodiments, the systems and methods are used as part of a virtual training environment where multiple participants are participating simultaneously. The methods and systems render multiple objects from multiple eye-points by creating custom projection matrix for each eye-point. Each rendered object is overlaid over the background and other images rendered with the standard eye-point projection matrix. Preferred embodiments use the same view matrix for all renderings.
A method for automatically predicting the cause of suboptimal shooting is provided. In some embodiments, the method comprises: providing a plurality of good example reference data to an evaluation function; providing a plurality of bad example reference data to the evaluation function; obtaining training data of a trainee's shot dispersion data; obtaining training data from at least one sensor mounted on the trainee's gun; using the evaluation function to classify the training data as good or bad; and, displaying the classification on a screen as feedback.
An improved projectile trap assembly includes a frame that supports a channel and a containment chamber. The containment chamber has an ingress point receiving a fired bullet and an egress point for distributing the bullet. The containment chamber is supported by a pair of bulkhead plates that are connected to the frame. Each bulkhead plate defines an aperture, with a scroll assembly being mounted between bulkhead plates proximate the aperture. The scroll assembly includes a front scroll affixed and a rear scroll detachably connected to the bulkhead plates. A side plate is detachably connected to the bulkhead plate opposite said front and rear scrolls to seal the scroll assembly to receive bullets. The containment chamber additionally includes upper and lower trap plates that are positioned proximate upper and lower channel plates at the ingress point. Finally, a plurality of collection buckets positioned below said front scroll in an adjustable position.
A laser stabilization assembly for weapon simulators is used in conjunction with the weapon simulator to steady a laser module. The laser stabilization assembly includes a first spacer, a second spacer and a lock ring that is secured to the barrel of the weapon simulator via a threaded insert and locking components. The assembly is mounted proximate to the barrel of the weapon simulator in the same general area allocated for a conventional laser apparatus of a conventional weapon simulator.
An apparatus for providing both day vision simulations and night vision simulations includes a projector that seamlessly provides both night and daytime training modes. The projector includes two independent light sources, with an embedded night vision filter affixed inside the projector proximate one of the light sources to achieve the night training mode. The operator will select one light source according to the mode desired (daytime training mode or nighttime training mode). Each light source may easily be selected, and the light paths from both of the light sources may have a common path when exiting the projector for efficient operation between modes.
