Abstract

Disclosed is a moisture indicating article having at least 3 layers. The first layer is desirably colored or includes a graphic image and is capable of wicking water. The second layer is a bonding agent. The third layer is also capable of wicking water and is opaque to translucent when dry and becomes very translucent to transparent when wet. The bonding agent allows for the passage of water. When used as part of a dressing, upon getting wet, the color or graphic becomes visible allowing a caretaker to know that it is time to replace the dressing.

Such a system can then communicate its location to a controller which in turn can then download to the display device advertising content. Abstract

Wounds and temporary appliances can be protected against liquid contamination using a prophylactic dressing. The dressing includes a liquid resistant sheet and disposed thereon a first liquid barrier/adhesive strip and a second liquid barrier/adhesive strip wherein the first and second liquid barrier/adhesive strips are concentric; located at or near the periphery of the liquid resistant sheet; and are separated from one another by a gap. Adsorbent's and liquid indicators can be employed within the gap to add further functionality to the dressing. Also disclosed herein is a support useful for stabilizing leads to transcutaneous or percutaneous devices.

Abstract

A filled amorphous bag apparatus, similar to a "bean bag", comprises at least one amorphous bag, a malleable filling within the amorphous bag, and at least one first connector on or within the amorphous bag. The malleable filling may include, but not be limited to, a plurality of pellets (e.g. beans), a putty, a gel, a stuffing (e.g. straw, cotton) and combinations thereof. The connector may be a magnet, a plurality of hooks, a plurality of loops, a suction cup, one half of a snap, a clip, a clamp, a clasp, and combinations of these. Optionally, first mating connector is a magnet and in another non-limiting embodiment the filled amorphous bag apparatus has a covering, where the connector is a magnet free to move around the surface of at least one amorphous bag between the at least one amorphous bag and the covering. Alternatively, a portion of a plurality of pellets making up the malleable filling may be magnetic or non-magnetic and ferrimagnetic or ferromagnetic. The bag itself may comprise optional features including a screen cleaning material, a duster material, a receptacle (e.g. a pocket), a strap and the like.

Abstract

Abstract

An adjustable apparatus comprises at least one amorphous, elongated armature having a length, a first end and a second end, the amorphous, elongated armature configured to be adjustable and positionable, and the adjustable apparatus also comprises at least one first mating connector thereon. Alternatively, the magnet is a magnetic bead configured to slide substantially along the length of the armature and configured to be positionable substantially along the length of the armature. Abstract

A magnetic device may have a matrix and a plurality of magnets, and the magnetic device may have a force sufficient to maintain a contracted position upon being contracted from a stretched state. The matrix may have at least two hinges that may be or include, but are not limited to a living hinge, a mechanical hinge, or combinations thereof. The plurality of magnets may be disposed upon, within, or around the matrix, and at least one dimension of each magnet is at least 500 nm. In a non-limiting embodiment, at least one of the magnets may be an energizable magnet for increasing or decreasing the rebound force of the magnetic device when the magnetic device is energized.

Abstract

A device incorporating both a magnet and a living hinge may be employed to construct cases to protect electronic devices and to function as a closure for cases and lidded containers. Abstract

A lens and/or a view screen of an electronic device having at least one case can be cleaned by wiping the view screen with a cleaning component wherein the cleaning component is configured to selectively couple to the at least one case or some other substrate using a magnetic attractive force. The cleaning devices may have secondary applications such as securing fly fishing lures, activating or deactivating a device having a magnetic switch, or preventing sunglasses from sinking.
