Abstract

The invention concerns a system for protecting vehicles, persons or objects, comprising a launching unit (1) having a control system and at least one launcher tube (3) accommodating an ejection charge (6), which can be ignited electrically, and an active member (4). In addition to an effect charge (12), the active member comprises a control system and an activation charge (11) which can be electrically ignited in order to discharge the effect charge (12) which may be a smoke, tear, flare or report composition, for example.

Abstract

The apparatus for irritating persons or crowds of people comprises devices which generate irritating signals. A first irritating device is provided which generates repeated first irritating signals at a rate of more than three signals per second (3/s). Preferably, a second irritating device is provided which generates a single second irritating signal at the beginning of or shortly before the first irritating signals or repeatedly generates second irritating signals at a rate that is significantly lower than the rate of the first irritating signals. Preferably, the first irritating signals are optical flashes of light while the second irritating signals are bang-type acoustic signals.
