Abstract

A printing material cartridge comprises: a memory device; a plurality of first terminals through which a power source voltage and signals for operating the memory device are supplied from a printing apparatus; and a plurality of second terminals to be used for detecting attachment conditions of the printing material cartridge in a cartridge attachment unit. The plurality of first terminals have a plurality of first contact portions that get in contact with corresponding apparatus-side terminals when the printing material container is properly attached to the cartridge attachment unit. The plurality of second terminals have a plurality of second contact portions that get in contact with corresponding apparatus-side terminals when the printing material container is properly attached to the cartridge attachment unit. The plurality of first and second contact portions are arranged so as to form a first row and a second row. Four contact portions among the plurality of second contact portions are placed at both ends of the first and second rows, respectively.

Abstract

The invention provides a projection display that achieves continuous light amount control with ease and without causing unevenness of illumination of light applied to a light valve responsive to a video signal, thereby allowing constant image display with satisfactory contrast. The projection display of the invention includes a light valve (2); a light source (3a) generating light applied to the light valve (2); an integrator lens (4) provided on an optical path between the light source (3a) and the light valve (2) and making uniform the illumination distribution of light applied from the light source (3a) to the light valve (2); and a light amount control system (9) provided on the optical path and including a turning mechanism (9a) which turns like a set of double doors in order to adjust the amount of light applied from the light source (3a) to the light valve (2). The turning mechanism (9a) is bent into a V shape in a direction to reduce the amount of light (to block the light).

Abstract

A liquid container includes a container body (2) formed with a liquid supply port (3), and a container-side fixing structure (7) which releasably regulates movement of the liquid container in an outward pulling direction in cooperation with apparatus-side fixing structure provided for the container mounting part in a state where the liquid container is mounted onto the container mounting part. The container-side fixing structure (7) has a guide groove (16) into which a fixing pin of the apparatus-side fixing structure can be inserted, and which guides the fixing pin in mounting and removal operations of the liquid container to and from the container mounting part. The guide groove (16) includes a fixing part (18) which engages the fixing pin to regulate the movement of the liquid container (1) in the pulling direction in the state where the liquid container is mounted to the container mounting part. A slanted entrance surface (22) is located at an entrance part of the guide groove, which slanted entrance surface slants so that a groove depth decreases in the movement direction of the fixing pin that relatively moves in association with an inserting operation of the liquid container into the container mounting part.

Abstract

In a holder for holding a rolled recording medium, each of a pair of side wall members is opposed to a side end face of the rolled recording medium to regulate a position of the rolled recording medium in a widthwise direction thereof. At least one of the side wall members includes a first section adapted to be brought into contact with the side end face, and a second section adapted to avoid contact with the slide end face. A position of the second section is determined such that an upper part of the side end face is free from contact with the at least one of the side wall members, and a position of the first section is determined such that a lower part of the side end face is brought into contact with the first section.
