Abstract

Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are described herein for adapting mobility under discontinuous coverage (e.g., associated with gap(s) in coverage). In examples, a WTRU may determine the start and duration of discontinuous coverage. Discontinuous coverage may be explicitly indicated in SI (e.g., start UTC 10:00 + 90s). The determination of the start and duration of discontinuous coverage may be implicitly determined via assistance information broadcasted in a SI cell stop time and a neighboring cell start time. The start and duration of discontinuous coverage may be calculated via location information (e.g., the distance between the WTRU and serving/neighboring cell center and the diameter of cell coverage). The WTRU may report it is about to enter a coverage gap at some configured offset from time (e.g., via a timer) of the coverage gap.

Abstract

In one implementation, a learnable transformation TearingTransform over 3D point cloud data is proposed. The TearingTransform could decompose point clouds into two channels: a low rank channel and a sparse channel. The low rank channel corresponds to a codeword representing a rough shape of a point cloud. The sparse channel appears as an image-like data representing residual information that can refine the reconstructed point locations. In an encoder based on TearingTransform, a PN module is used to generate the codeword from the input point cloud; a FN module is used to reconstruct a preliminary point cloud from the codeword and an initial grid image; and a TN module modifies the initial grid image to generate an adjusted grid image. The codeword and the adjusted grid image are compressed. At the decoder, the point cloud can be reconstructed based on the decompressed codeword and adjusted grid image.

Abstract

A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may receive a first higher layer configuration for a cancellation indication (CI). Further, the first higher layer configuration may include a set of reference frequency resources. Also, the WTRU may receive a grant indicating a frequency allocation and a time allocation for a scheduled transmission. Further, on a condition that the CI is received, the WTRU may interrupt the scheduled transmission. Additionally, the CI may indicate a subset of frequency resources of the set of reference frequency resources for each of a set of time symbols. Also, the WTRU may cancel the scheduled transmission on a condition that the subset of frequency resources of a set of time symbols overlaps with the frequency allocation and the time allocation for the scheduled transmission. In a further example, the first higher layer configuration may include an applicable maximum priority and the grant may include a priority index.

Abstract

Methods and apparatus for wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) power control are described. A method includes receiving a time domain resource allocation (TDRA) list configuration including entries, each including a resource allocation that includes a slot offset value. L1 signaling is received indicating a minimum slot offset value. Downlink control information (DCI) is decoded on a physical downlink control channel in a slot. An index is obtained from the decoded DCI, identifying an entry in the TDRA list. A particular slot offset value identified by the index is retrieved from the TDRA list and compared with the minimum slot offset value. If the particular slot offset value is less than the minimum slot offset value, the entry is invalid. If the particular slot offset value is greater than or equal to the minimum slot offset value, a physical downlink shared channel is received.

Abstract

Systems, methods, and devices for efficient and robust handling of acknowledgements in new radio unlicensed bands (NR-U) environments. A wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) may receive control information and a data transmission from a gNB in a first interval (i.e., transport block or channel occupancy time), wherein the control information may include an indication of uplink resources. The data transmission may require some sort of acknowledgement (i.e., HARQ feedback). The WTRU may attempt to transmit the acknowledgement in the indicated uplink resources, but the gNB may not receive the acknowledgement. The WTRU may receive control information and a data transmission from the gNB in a second interval, including an indication to aggregate any previously unsuccessful acknowledgement transmissions. The WTRU may transmit an aggregated acknowledgement including previous unsuccessful acknowledgements and any additional acknowledgements from the current interval. In some cases, look-before-talk procedures may be used.

Abstract

Methods and apparatuses are described herein for rediscovery and medium access for wake-up radios. For example, a wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) may receive, via a first transceiver, a frame that includes a wake-up radio (WUR) operation element having a first counter value. The WTRU may deactivate the first transceiver and activate a second transceiver, wherein the first transceiver enters into a doze state and the second transceiver is in an awake state. The WTRU may then receive, via the second transceiver in the awake state, a WUR frame that includes a second counter value indicating an update of a plurality of basic server set (BSS) parameters associated with the first transceiver. On a condition that the second counter value is different than the first counter value, the WTRU may activate the first transceiver to update the plurality of BSS parameters, wherein the first transceiver enters into an awake state.

Abstract

A wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) may send a grant free transmission comprising a first and a second part, each of which may be associated with a priority. The first part's priority may be higher than the second part's priority. The WTRU may select a first back of value from a first range of back off values. The WTRU may determine whether the grant free transmission was successful. If the grant free transmission was not successful, the WTRU may send a retransmission of the grant free transmission, which may include the first part and may not include the second part. The retransmission may select a second back off value from a second range of back off values, which may be a larger than the first range of back off values. The second back off value may indicate the number of grant free resource to skip prior to sending the retransmission.

Abstract

Techniques for congestion management in a communication network are contemplated. For example, a wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) may include a Radio Resource Control (RRC) layer and a Non- Access Stratum (NAS) layer. The RRC layer may receive an indication for a service, for example from the NAS. The indication may be interpreted as a request for the particular service indicated. For example, the indicated service may correspond to at least one of: a mobile originated (MO) voice communication, a circuit switched fallback (CSFB) supplementary service (SS), or a MO short message service (SMS). The RRC layer may receive a signal from a network indicating that one or more services provided by the network are allowed. The RRC layer may send a connection request to the network for the service sought by the NAS if that service is one of the one or more services allowed.

Abstract

Methods and apparatus for performing device-to-device (D2D) discovery are described. A service discovery process may include a discoverable device (e.g., a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU)) sending a discovery request, over a wireless connection, for a radio resource for the purpose of performing a transmission for radio frequency (RF) proximity detection for a given service. The WTRU may receive a discovery response including a configuration for RF proximity detection from a network, which configuration may be associated to the service. The configuration for RF proximity may be received by dedicated signaling, (e.g., physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH)), in particular for a discoverable WTRU. The configuration for RF proximity may be received on a broadcast channel, (e.g., a discovery shared channel (DISCH)), in particular for a monitoring WTRU, and may include one or more service identities, each associated with an RF proximity detection configuration, or a validity information and a measurement configuration.

Abstract

Methods and systems are disclosed for providing physical layer resources to a plurality of medium access control (MAC) instances that are associated with different serving sites that are independently scheduled. For example, a WTRU may utilize a first physical layer configuration for transmitting to a first serving site associated with a first MAC instance. The WTRU may utilize a second physical layer configuration for transmitting to a second serving site associated with a second MAC instance. The WTRU may prevent conflicts between transmission requests from the first MAC instance and transmission requests from the second MAC instance. For example, preventing the conflicts may include utilizing one or more of time segregation or frequency segregation for transmissions associated with the first MAC instance and transmissions associated with the second MAC instance.

Abstract

A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) receives a downlink transmission from an eNodeB including a plurality of spatial layers transmitted to a plurality of WTRUs paired for multi-user MIMO. The WTRU decodes the downlink transmission based on a corresponding WTRU-specific reference signal. WTRU-specific reference signals are multiplexed using a frequency and code division multiplexing. WTRU-specific reference signals for different sub-group of antenna ports are multiplexed onto different subcarriers in a frequency domain and the WTRU-specific reference signals of the same sub-group of antennas ports are multiplied by an orthogonal cover code. The resource elements used for the WTRU-specific reference signals on antenna ports in one sub-group may be muted on antenna ports in another sub-group. A WTRU may transmit the uplink demodulation reference signal without precoding. The number of resource blocks allocated for the demodulation reference signal may be greater than the number of resource blocks allocated for the payload.

Abstract

A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) establishes communication with a first set of cells and a second set of cells. The first set of cells may be associated with a first scheduler and the second set of cells- may be associated with a second scheduler. A plurality of TPC commands are sent from a plurality of schedulers to the WTRU. The WTRU then determines a power for the transmission of a control channel to each scheduler on the basis of the corresponding TPC command received from the respective scheduler.

Abstract

Methods and apparatus for mitigating in-device interference are described. The methods may include an in-device interference event (e.g. an interference situation), and the processing of events may depend on the priority of the technologies. A handover to another frequency or radio access technology (RAT) may occur in case a co-existing technology may be activated. The network may signal to the device a list of frequencies or RATs that it may be allowed to measure and handoff to. A network may provide a scaling value that the device may use to speed up reaction to the interference. The device may apply a scaling factor to an "out of synch' counter and/or the radio link failure (RLF) timer used for the RLF procedure. The device may apply different scaling factors for the measurements and time to trigger events. The device may trigger a report to the network requesting gaps for an alternate RAT.

Abstract

A method and apparatus are described for transmitting service request messages in a congested network. In one embodiment, a message including a timer value may be received by a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) having a timer that is set based on the timer value. Once the timer is activated, the WTRU may not attempt to transmit a service request message to a network for mobile originated (MO) services, except for MO emergency calls, until the timer expires. In another embodiment, the timer may be deactivated in response to receiving a page for a mobile terminated (MT) call. The congested network may include a mobility management entity (MME) and a mobile switching center (MSC)/visitor location register (VLR). The MME may apply a congestion control criteria to the WTRU based on whether a timer in the MME is activated or expired.

Abstract

Methods and apparatus for sounding reference signals (SRS) configuration and transmission. The methods include receiving configuration of wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) -specific SRS subframes for transmitting SRS and upon receipt of a trigger, transmitting the SRS for a number of antennas. The SRS transmissions may occur in each subframe of a duration of WTRU-specific SRS subframes that start a number of WTRU-specific SRS subframes after a triggering subframe. For multiple SRS transmissions from multiple antennas, cyclic shift multiplexing and different transmission combs may be used. The cyclic shift for an antenna may be determined from a cyclic shift reference value. The cyclic shift determined for each antenna providing a maximum distance between cyclic shifts for the antennas transmitting SRS in a same WTRU-specific subframe. SRS transmissions from multiple antennas in the WTRU-specific subframe may be done in parallel. Methods for handling collisions between SRS and physical channels are presented.

Abstract

Techniques and apparatus for efficiently determining the radio link control (RLC) protocol data unit (PDU) size and flexible RLC PDU creation for multi carrier operation are disclosed. An example wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) calculates a maximum amount of data allowed to be transmitted for a current transmission time interval (TTI) for each of a plurality of carriers, and selects an RLC PDU data field size such that each RLC PDU to be multiplexed to a medium access control (MAC) PDU matches a minimum of the maximum amount of data calculated for the carriers. The maximum amount of data may, for example, be calculated based on an applicable current grant for each carrier for the current TTI. The RLC PDU may be generated for the later TTI on a condition that an amount of data in outstanding pre-generated RLC PDUs for a particular logical channel is less than or equal to 4N times the minimum of the maximum amount of data allowed to be transmitted by the applicable current grant for the carriers for the current TTI, where N is a number of activated carriers. The maximum amount of data may be calculated based on a remaining power on each carrier.

Abstract

A method and apparatus are described for providing non-packet switched service to a target radio access technology (RAT) network. A circuit switched (CS) service notification message is received by a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). If the WTRU has been allo-cated a valid temporary mobile subscriber identity (TMSI), a paging response mes-sage including the valid TMSI is transmit-ted after an inter-system change is per-formed from a source RAT network to a target RAT network. The CS service notifi-cation message is for terminating a CS call request. The source RAT network may be a long term evolution (LTE) network, and the target RAT network may be a third generation partnership project (3GPP) net-work. Alternatively, if the WTRU has not been allocated a valid TMSI, a paging re-sponse message including an international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI) that identifies the WTRU is transmitted after the inter-system change.

Abstract

A method and apparatus are described for performing a dual-carrier operation. A first timer is initiated for an anchor carrier and a second timer is initiated for a supplementary carrier. A physical channel failure may be declared on a condition that either of the timers expire before a predefined number of in-synch indication received from a layer 1(L1) entity is counted. Uplink transmission and enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH) operations may be stopped on a supplementary carrier associated with the physical channel failure, but may be continued on an anchor carrier that has a physical channel established. If the physical channel failure is associated with the anchor carrier, uplink transmission and E-DCH transmission operations are stopped on all carriers.

Abstract

Providing control (scheduling) information for multi-carrier uplink transmission are disclosed. A wireless transmit/ receive unit (WTRU) may set a happy bit for enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH) transmissions on each uplink carrier considering aggregated transmission capability over all uplink carriers. The happy bit is set to "unhappy" if the WTRU is transmitting as much scheduled data as allowed by a current serving grant, the WTRU has enough power available to transmit at a higher rate, and total E-DCH buffer status (TEBS) requires more than a pre-configured period to be transmitted with a current effective data rate aggregated over all uplink carriers. The WTRU may send scheduling information including power headroom measured on the anchor (primary) uplink carrier and/or power headroom measured on the supplementary (secondary) uplink carrier. For power headroom measurements, the WTRU may initiate a short-lived dedicated physical control channel loop on the supplementary carrier.

Abstract

A method and an apparatus for simultaneously receiving on two carriers and performing discontinuous transmis-sion (DTX) and discontinuous reception (DRX) in dual cell high speed downlink packet access (DC-HSDPA) are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) receives a message for activating DRX for at least one of an anchor carrier and a supple-mentary carrier and applies the same DRX pattern to the anchor carrier and the supplementary carrier upon reception of the mes-sage. The message may be received via a high speed shared control channel (HS-SCCH) order. The WTRU may activate or de-ac-tivate the supplementary carrier based on the physical layer signal. Upon activation of the supplementary carrier, the WTRU may apply the same DRX pattern on both the anchor carrier and the supplementary carrier. The WTRU may flush a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) buffer associated with the supplementary carrier upon de- activation of the supplementary carrier.

Abstract

A method and apparatus for radio link synchronization and power control in CELL_FACH state and idle mode are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) transmits a random access channel (RACH) preamble and receives an acquisition indicator acknowledging the RACH preamble via an acquisition indicator channel (AICH) and an index to an enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH) resource. The WTRU determines a start of an E-DCH frame. An F-DPCH timing offset is defined with respect to one of the RACH access slot and an AICH access slot carrying the acquisition indicator. A relative F-DPCH timing offset may be signaled to the WTRU and the WTRU may determine a start of an E-DCH frame based on the relative F-DPCH timing offset and timing of an AICH access slot including the acquisition indicator. The WTRU may transmit a dedicated physical control channel (DPCCH) power control preamble before starting an E-DCH transmission.

Abstract

A method and apparatus for triggering radio link control (RLC) re-establishment and/or protocol data unit (PDU) discard are disclosed. An RLC entity maintains a state variable for counting a total number of transmissions and/or retransmissions of an RLC PDU and its PDU segments. If the state variable reaches a threshold, the RLC entity initiates RLC re-establishment and/or discards the RLC PDU and PDU segments. The state variable may be incremented each time a negative acknowledgement is received for at least a portion of the RLC PDU or when a retransmission is considered for the RLC PDU or a portion of the RLC PDU. The RLC entity may increase a state variable proportionate to a retransmitted data size. The RLC entity may maintain separate state variables for the RLC PDU and PDU segments and counts the number of transmissions and/or retransmissions for the RLC PDU and the PDU segments.
