Abstract

A system for protecting temperature sensitive products. The system comprises a cover that fits over a product. The cover has a first component, a second component, and a closure system. The first component covers the top of the product and at least a portion of a first side of the product, and the second component covers at least a portion of the other sides of the product. The closure system closes openings between the first component and the second component and tightens the cover around the product. Abstract

Described in embodiments herein are ionomers comprising a neutralized blend of an ethylene acid copolymer, an aliphatic and a mono-functional organic acid. The blend includes from 40 wt% to 95 wt% of the ethylene acid copolymer, from 5 to 50 wt% of the aliphatic, mono-functional organic acid, based on the total weight of the blend. The ethylene acid copolymer is the polymerized reaction product of ethylene, from 1 to 25 wt% of monocarboxylic acid and from 1 to 40 wt% of alkyl acrylate, based on the total weight of the monomers present in the ethylene acid copolymer. The aliphatic, mono-functional organic acid has fewer than 36 carbon atoms. In various embodiments, at least 70 mole % of total acid units are neutralized with both a trivalent cation and either a mono- or di-valent cation.

Abstract

According to one embodiment, an ionomer includes a neutralized blend of an ethylene acid copolymer and an aliphatic, mono-functional organic acid. In a first aspect, a low haze polyimide film includes, a dianhydride, a diamine, and a color-tuning compound. The low haze polyimide film has a thickness in a range of from 1 to 150 um, an a* closer to zero with a |Δa*| greater than 0.2 and a b* that is at most 0.2 further away from zero, or a b* closer to zero with a |Δb*| greater than 0.2 and an a* that is at most 0.2 further away from zero, when compared to a low haze polyimide film of the same dianhydride and diamine composition, but without the color-tuning compound, and a haze of less than 4%. Abstract

Disclosed herein are compositions comprising aggregates of insoluble alphaglucan with alpha-1,3-glycosidic linkages. These aggregates have an average hydrodynamic radius of about 50 nm to about 300 nm, and a fractal dimension of about 1.6 to about 2.4. Insoluble alpha-glucan aggregates in some disclosed aspects are arborescent. Further disclosed are methods of preparing these compositions.

A process is disclosed herein comprising the steps: a) contacting an esterifying agent and a polysaccharide in the presence of a first solvent and suitable reaction conditions for a reaction time sufficient to form a product comprising a polysaccharide ester composition, the polysaccharide ester composition comprising a polysaccharide ester having a degree of substitution of about 0.001 to about 3; wherein the esterifying agent comprises an acyl halide, a phosphoryl halide, a carboxylic acid anhydride, a haloformic acid ester, a carbonic acid ester, or a vinyl ester; and the ratio of esterifying agent to polysaccharide is in the range of about 0.001:1 to about 3:1 on a molar equivalent basis; b) combining the product obtained in step a) with polyacrylonitrile; and c) spinning fibers.

Molded articles are disclosed herein, the molded article comprising a polysaccharide, wherein the polysaccharide comprises i) poly alpha-1,3-glucan; ii) poly alpha-1,3-1,6-glucan; iii) a graft copolymer that comprises (A) a backbone comprising dextran with a weight-average molecular weight (Mw) of at least about 100000 Daltons, and (B) poly alpha-1,3-glucan side chains comprising at least about 95% alpha-1,3-glucosidic linkages; or iv) a composition comprising a poly alpha-1,3-glucan ester compound as disclosed herein. Optionally, the molded articles can further comprise a plasticizer and/or starch. The molded articles can be useful as a container, a handle, packaging, a tray, a bottle, a cup, a sheet, a disposable food packaging item, an automotive part, a casing for an electronic device, or a toy.
