Abstract

The invention relates to a device and a method for shaping a sheet metal blank (10) from an originally flat shape into a bowl shape. The device has a punch (14), a die (12) with an end surface (40) and a hold-down device (16) with an end surface (40), of which the die (12) and the hold-down device (16) are arranged with their end surfaces (40) opposing one another, and each having a central opening (18), so that a punch (14) can be respectively introduced through these central openings (18). At a drawing edge, the end surface (16) of the die (12) facing the end surface (40) transitions into a circumferential wall surrounding the central opening (18) in the die (12). The punch (14) is arranged mobile relative to the hold-down device (16) and to the die (12), so that it can be inserted into the central opening (18) of the die (12) through the central opening (18) of the hold-down device (16). In order to bring about varying strengths of material feed in the circumferential direction of the central opening (18) first surface sections (46) are provided in at least one of the end surfaces (40) of the die (12) and of the hold-down device (16) opposing one another and causing a retention force, which surface sections (46), owing to their surface properties and/or structure, cause a lower frictional force between the end surface (40) of the die (12) and/or of the hold-down device (16) and a respective blank than in the circumferential direction between second surface sections (48) arranged between the first sections.
