Abstract
Provided is an outdoor unit for an air conditioning device, with which: pressure loss during use with an evaporator can be reduced; and high heating capability and improvements in cooling performance can be realized at low cost even under the influence of a liquid head caused by the wind speed distribution of a heat exchanger and the height of the heat exchanger. The heat exchanger has a height of at least 1 meter and is constituted by three columns of heat exchange units that are arranged along the direction in which air flows. A first column heat exchange unit, which is on the upwind side among the heat exchange units, is disposed such that a U-shaped heat transfer pipe overlaps in a stage direction. Two columns on the downwind side are disposed such that the U-shaped heat transfer pipe straddles a second column heat exchange unit and a third column heat exchange unit. The third column heat exchange unit of an upper-side heat exchanger is connected to a gas header. The number of cooling paths connected to the gas header is greater than half the total number of stages of the heat exchanger, and is the same number of stages as the number of cooling paths connected to the gas header. The first column heat exchange unit of a lower-side heat exchanger is connected to a liquid coolant distributor. The U-shaped heat transfer pipe of the third column heat exchange unit of the lower-side heat exchanger and the U-shaped heat transfer pipe of the first column heat exchange unit of the upper-side heat exchanger are connected via a path connection pipe.

Abstract
Provided is an air conditioner capable of outside air defrosting operation with outside air and maintenance of heating capacity even if the temperature of the outside air is lower than the freezing point. In the defrosting operation mode in the heating operation, outdoor blower fans (22, 23) blow air to both of divided heat exchangers (20, 21). Furthermore, if the temperature of outdoor air is lower than the freezing point, an expansion valve (15, 16) connected to one of the divided heat exchangers (20, 21) is fully closed, and only in the heat exchanger with the expansion valve fully closed, defrosting is performed by sublimation action by outdoor air. This enables defrosting using outdoor air while continuing the heating operation even if the temperature of the outdoor air is lower than the freezing point.

Abstract
This air conditioner has a plurality of indoor units requiring different amounts of time for a freezing step. In order to execute a cleaning operation for cleaning the surface of each indoor heat exchanger, a control device has a function of controlling a freezing cycle through a compressor, an outdoor heat exchanger, an expansion valve, and the indoor heat exchanger in sequence. The control device executes, as the cleaning operation, freezing of the indoor heat exchanger, defrosting of the indoor heat exchanger, and drying of the indoor heat exchanger in this order. During the freezing of indoor heat exchangers, the freezing step is executed on the indoor units in descending order of the amount of time required therefor. For an indoor unit which requires the shortest amount of time for the freezing step, start of the freezing step is delayed such that the freezing step ends simultaneously with the freezing step for an indoor unit which requires a longer amount of time.

Abstract
Provided is a novel rotary compressor having increased strength of an upper end plate and thus achieving increased mechanical reliability. An upper end plate 22A has an outer shape formed by: a first arc forming a plurality of fixed regions 32A to 32C welded to a tubular body 14, the first arc being concentric with the center C of the tubular body 14 and having a radius substantially the same as the radius of an inner wall of the tubular body 14; and a sectoral second arc forming connecting sides 33A to 33C connecting fixed region end portions 35A to 35C of adjacent fixed regions 34A to 34C, the second arc being formed by connecting to the center C of the tubular body 14. The radius of the second arc is greater than the radius of the first arc, and the second arc is an arc protruding toward the inner wall of the tubular body 14 and forming a passing hole 37A with respect to the inner wall of the tubular body 14. Because the connecting sides forming the outer peripheral edge of a compression mechanism holding unit are arc-shaped, formation of a shape-varying portion having a stress concentration is prevented. Accordingly, the strength of the upper end plate is increased and higher mechanical reliability is achieved. Further, because the connecting sides forming the outer peripheral edge of the compression mechanism holding unit are arc-shaped, it is possible to enlarge the compression mechanism portion without changing the inner diameter of a sealing container, and to increase the ejected flow volume.
