Abstract

The invention relates to an airbag for a vehicle occupant restraint system, having a first and a second chamber (11, 12) which can be inflated for the protection of a vehicle occupant; having an outflow element (2) with an outflow duct (225) via which the gas can flow out of the first chamber (11) when the internal pressure in the first chamber exceeds the internal pressure (P1) in the second chamber (12) and which can be compressed under the action of the internal pressure (P2) in the second chamber (12), such that an outflow of gas out of the second chamber (12) is counteracted, when the internal pressure in the first chamber (11) is lower than the internal pressure in the second chamber. According to the invention, the outflow element has a two-layer material piece (200') and the outflow duct (225) is formed by folding in a portion (203b') of the material piece between the material layers of the material piece.

Abstract

A triggering device for a horn system of a motor vehicle is integrated in a steering wheel (2) of the motor vehicle. In order to prevent a relative movement of components associated with the steering wheel in relation to each other, but still enable a secure and reliable actuation of the triggering device of the horn system while at the same time allowing an optically compact and appealing design of the steering wheel (2), the invention proposes for the triggering device to comprise a first triggering unit (7), with which a parameter inherent in intended activation of the horn is detected. When such a parameter is detected, a first triggering signal can be emitted. The invention comprises a second triggering unit (11), with which a further parameter inherent in an intended activation of the horn is detected and a second triggering signal can be emitted. By means of the triggering device (7, 11), the horn system of the motor vehicle can be put into operation when the first triggering signal is emitted by the first triggering unit (7) and the second triggering signal is emitted by the second triggering unit (11).

Abstract

The invention relates amongst other things to a belt retractor (10) for a safety belt, with a belt spool (20) for winding up and out the safety belt, a drive, which can drive the belt spool for winding up the safety belt and a positive-fit overload coupling (50) between the drive and the belt spindle, wherein the overload coupling has an outer ring (30) and an inner ring (60) which is mounted to rotate coaxially within the outer ring about a rotational axis. Positive fit elements (110) of the inner ring have a positive fir engagement with recesses (130) in the inner contour (40) of the outer ring and give a positive fit connection between the inner ring and the outer ring. The positive fit elements are resiliently elastic such as, on overload, to be separable from the respective recess thereof, whereupon the overload coupling can uncouple. According to the invention, the recesses in the inner contour of the outer ring have an asymmetric shape.

Abstract

The invention relates to a child protection system for a motor vehicle seat, comprising a seat shell, a back rest of the seat shell extending along the longitudinal direction of the back for the back support of the torso of a child, and a seat belt, wherein the back rest comprises an upper back rest part, which is movably arranged on the seat shell and on which at least one seat belt point is provided, on which the seat belt is arranged. According to the invention, a lower back rest part of the back rest is provided on the seat shell pivotally about a pivot axis, comprising a coupling section at the lower back rest part, said section being provided and designed to interact with the upper back rest part such that a displacement of the upper back rest part allows for the inclination of the lower back rest part to be adjusted together with the position of the at least one seat belt point. Thus, a child protection system is created, which enables the adjustment of a comfortable and safe seating position for a child in a simple and reliable design and, at the same time, ensures simple, user-friendly adjustability of the child protection system.

Abstract

The invention relates to a steering wheel comprising foam cladding, which is applied to a skeleton steering wheel structure. In order to achieve particularly a desired level of softness for the steering wheel rim and the necessary surface hardness of the steering wheel trim, the foam cladding (2, 6, 10, 14) is made of a soft, dimensionally stable foam material, at least in select sections of the steering wheel, the material being surrounded by a harder cover layer (3, 8) or a leather sheathing (12, 16). A method for producing a trim for a steering wheel is characterized according to the invention in that the skeleton steering wheel structure is covered with a soft, dimensionally stable foam material in a first foaming mold, and that, after expiration of the reaction time, the steering wheel pre-coated with foam is covered with a harder cover layer in a second foaming mold or provided with a leather sheathing.

Abstract

The invention relates to an airbag for a motor vehicle, which can be inflated with gas to protect a passenger in a motor vehicle. Said airbag comprises an airbag cover surrounding an interior of the airbag that can be filled with gas, at least one first discharge opening for discharging gas from the airbag, which discharge opening is provided on the airbag cover, a closure of the first discharge opening that can be opened when the airbag is inflated, in which case gas can escape from the interior of the airbag, at least one pull strap (B) which couples the closure with the airbag cover, the closure being closed when the pull strap is slack and being opened when the pull strap is pulled. According to the invention, the pull strap (B) is configured inside the airbag cover (H) in such a manner that the mere impact of a passenger (P), having a predetermined minimum size or a predetermined minimum weight, on the airbag (G) that is mounted in a motor vehicle in a specific manner results in the pull strap (B) to slacken for an airbag cover (H) mounted in a motor vehicle, so that the closure (V) remains or is substantially closed when the airbag (G) is inflated, or that the pull strap (B) is configured inside the airbag cover (H) in such a manner that the pull strap (B) is pulled independent of the impact of a passenger (P) on the airbag when the airbag (G) is inflated so that the closure (V) is opened to at least some extent.

Abstract

The invention relates to a safety belt system for a motor vehicle. Said safety belt system comprises a safety belt (10), extending along a belt direction (V), a shoulder portion (S) of the safety belt (10), to rest against the upper body of a person who has fastened the safety belt (10) as required, a buckle element (1) which divides the safety belt (10) up into the shoulder portion (S) and a further belt portion (L), the buckle element (1) deflecting the safety belt (10) along the belt direction (V) in such a manner that the two portions (S, L) extend away from the buckle element (1) in different directions, a mobile zone (B) of the buckle element (1) which, under the effect of crash forces in which the safety belt (10) can slide along the buckle element (1), can be moved from an initial position to a terminal position in which the safety belt (10) is fixed to the buckle element (1). The mobile zone (B) is configured and adapted to fix the safety belt (10) to the buckle element (1) already before terminal position is reached. The safety belt (10) interacts with the mobile zone (B) in such a manner that the mobile zone (B) can be moved from its initial position to its terminal position by a force acting upon the shoulder portion (S) and tensioning the shoulder portion (S) along the belt direction (V). The movement of the mobile zone (B) to the terminal position relieves the shoulder portion (S) in such a manner that the resulting force acting upon the shoulder portion (S) is limited. According to the invention, the safety belt (10) is fixed to the buckle element (1) by the mobile zone (B) itself.

Abstract

The invention relates to an airbag for a motor vehicle, with an airbag which has an airbag covering and can be filled with gas in order to protect a person, two mutually opposite covering sections of the airbag covering, a discharge opening, which is formed on one of the two covering sections, for letting gas out of the airbag, and a connecting means for forming a releasable connection between the two covering sections, wherein, when the airbag is inflated, the connection counters an escape of gas through the discharge opening, and wherein, when the airbag is inflated, the connecting means interacts with the airbag covering in such a manner that the connection is released and gas can escape out of the discharge opening. According to the invention, it is provided that the two covering sections each form an airbag layer (1, 2) which are connected to each other in order to form the airbag covering and which move away from each other when the airbag (G) is inflated, and the airbag layers (1, 2) which move away from each other introduce a force into the connecting means (V) such that the connection between the two covering sections (1, 2) is released.
