Abstract

A rimfire takedown firearm that may utilize removable barrels of different calibers. The disclosed firearm does not require a barrel extension, instead providing positioning of the barrel that is sufficiently precise and repeatable. Tensioning of the barrel is provided passively during installation of the removable barrel, without need for adjustment or additional tightening. Securing the removable barrel to the receiver does not structurally involve the fore end, thereby avoiding harmonics effects associated with fore end interfaces to the receiver. The firearm takes advantage of an "underspaced" chamber arrangement to provide additional tolerance for manufacturing and assembly of the firearm.

Abstract

A semiautomatic shotgun comprising a receiver, a barrel, a forward gas block assembly attached to the barrel, a slider assembly rearward of the gas block assembly extending into the receiver. Upon firing a shotshell the explosive gases in the barrel are diverted through two ports into the gas block assembly, specifically into a pair of lateral pressure relief valves positioned on both sides of the barrel. The pressure relief valves further having a gas pathway from the barrel provided by clusters of holes less than a specific size and on-center with the barrel axis. A piston is forced rearwardly and engages a slider of the slider assembly that is linked to a breech block in the receiver. The breech block loads unfired shells and ejects the fired shells accomplishing the semiautomatic recycling. The dual pressure relief valves actuate to moderate and limit the gas pressure that enters the piston chamber when using shotshells of different power levels thereby providing consistency in the recycling operation. The shotgun assembled with a plurality of retention pins having uniformly sized O-rings.

Abstract

A reciprocating bolt assembly has delayed blowback and a firing pin block. Features prevent out-of-battery firing, when the bolt assembly is not fully engaged to the firing chamber or barrel face, a movable member within a bolt body functions as a blocking member that blocks the firing pin and prevents the firing pin from striking a cartridge. In embodiments, the firing pin has two stop portions that the movable member can engage depending on the cycle status of the firearm. A reverse cam mechanism associated with the firing pin blocking provides a resistance to and delays blowback.

Abstract

A firearm with a tool-less adjustable trigger pull. The adjustment may be facilitated with a thumb rotatable wheel for tool-less tension adjustment of a trigger tension spring. The rotatable wheel may be accessed by snapping a trigger guard away from a stock of the firearm. Accordingly, the force required to actuate the trigger can be adjusted to the user's preference without having to remove the trigger assembly from the stock, and without need for external tools or accessories.

The pressure relief valves further having a gas pathway to a piston chamber.

Abstract

An ejector mechanism for a firearm. The ejector mechanism includes a claw-type extractor disposed opposite a ledge portion that includes an inclined face, the inclined facing being oriented to face toward a bolt face to help secure a shell casing to the bolt face during the extraction process. The claw-type extractor and inclined face, while providing positive retention of the shell casing during ejection, also cooperate to enable the shell casing to be dislodged by an ejector.

Abstract

A semiautomatic firearm with redundant systems for reducing misfirings. A safety trigger is provided that is passively actuated in advance of a firing trigger. The safety trigger maintains redundant safety mechanisms that prevent inadvertent or accidental actuation of the firing trigger. The firing trigger can be configured for actuation with a very low magnitude or “soft” pull without compromising safety. For the disclosed embodiments, the safety trigger assures that the firearm is discharged only upon deliberate actuation of the firing trigger. In one embodiment, a trigger pull adjustment mechanism provides adjustment of the pull of the firing trigger to a desired force required by the operator. The disclosed trigger pull adjustment mechanism reduces the number of components and complexity of the machined parts over conventional trigger pull adjustment mechanisms.

In embodiments, the firing pin has two stop portions that the movable member can engage depending on the cycle status of the firearm. A reverse cam mechanism associated with the firing pin blocking provides a resistance to and delays blowback. The bolt may interface with the necked rimfire cartridge using a undercut engagement on the forward end of the bolt. The semiautomatic firearm also may incorporate one or both of a dual trigger arrangement as part of a trigger and firing mechanism.

Abstract

A bolt action firearm that cocks the firing pin upon closing the bolt and includes a cam pin with dual heads for a high velocity rimfire cartridge. In one embodiment, actuating the main spring while closing the bolt, instead of while opening the bolt, more uniformly distributes the physical energy required by the user over the bolt actuation cycle. The dual heads of the cam pin provide symmetric reactive forces with dual cam slots, thereby preventing the cam pin from skewing or canting within the cam slots. A safety system is provided for the trigger mechanism and a robust connecting systems for the stock.
