Abstract

A controller controls a floating unit and a conveyor to convey a sheet to a supply destination, and performs a following control of acquiring a detection value of a detector which detects an output signal acquired due to an input to a side of a sheet stack, during floating of sheets floated by the floating unit each time a sheet is conveyed by the conveyor and lifting a stacking tray upon the acquired detection value being less than a threshold value. The controller controls the floating unit and the conveyor to perform a feeding retry upon an occurrence of empty feeding in the conveyor, and determines the threshold value such that a target position for a height position of an upper surface of the sheet stack in the following control is a position where empty feeding is more likely to occur than multiple sheet feeding in the conveyor.

Abstract

A controller drives a floating unit and a conveyor to perform a sheet feed operation, during the sheet feed operation, acquires an amount of received light at a detector during floating of sheets floated by the floating unit each time each sheet is conveyed by the conveyor, and perform a following control of lifting a stacking tray upon the acquired amount of received light being less than a threshold value. The controller, after start of the sheet feed operation, samples amounts of received light at the detector during floating of the sheets floated by the floating unit, performs a threshold value determination process of determining the threshold value by using the sampled amounts of received light, and starts the following control upon determining the threshold value.

Abstract

A dust removal device for continuous paper improves operability and usability for a user. The continuous paper is continuously supplied in a rightward direction, then through guide rollers, the direction of the continuous paper is reversed leftward. A downward front surface of the continuous paper is cleaned with a first dust removal device. Further, a direction of the continuous paper is reversed with a guide roller rightward. A downward back surface of the continuous paper is cleaned with a second dust removal device, and is guided to the downstream side. The two dust removal devices are provided in a vertical positional relationship in space. Dust removed with a dust removing member falls to a dust receiving member and is stored in the dust receiving member. It is possible to easily dispose the dust by pulling out the dust removal device from a cleaning position to an outside detachment position.

Abstract

An ink mist recovery device allows suction of ink mist with uniform suction force irrespective of a position on a confronting sheet. The ink mist recovery device includes a recovery casing having multiple suction ports confronting a sheet, and a suction unit connected to the recovery casing. At least one of a size of each of the suction ports and a first suction distance from each of the suction ports to a suction slit is set in accordance with a second suction distance from the suction unit to the suction slit via each of the suction ports so that the suction force is kept uniform at the respective positions on the sheet corresponding to the suction ports. The mist suction force is made uniform over the entire width of the suction slit to improve quality of the printed image without sucking ink droplets required to land.

Abstract

A liquid agent mist recovery device for a liquid agent application device prevents dripping of a droplet formed from a sucked liquid agent mist onto a sheet. The ink mist recovery device installed downstream of an inkjet head includes a recovery casing with an opening for introducing the mist. The opening is communicated with a recovery hole connected to a suction fun, and positioned apart from an upstream wall surface by a distance corresponding to receiving portions for receiving a droplet trickling from the wall surface, and apart from a downstream wall surface so that air introduced from downstream obstructs the flow of the upstream liquid agent mist for guiding into the recovery hole. The liquid agent mist from upstream is securely introduced and recovered. The liquid agent mist trickling from the wall surface of the recovery hole is received by the receiving portion rather than dripping onto the sheet.

Abstract

An image inspection apparatus is capable of inspecting an image on a print sheet as an inspection object with high accuracy while conveying the print sheet from an upstream conveyance unit to a downstream conveyance unit. The image inspection apparatus inspects the print sheet conveyed at a first conveyance speed with a first conveyance unit of a printing device, with a first inspection unit, while conveying the print sheet at a second conveyance speed with a second conveyance unit of an inspection device. The first inspection unit is provided in a position downstream of an intermediate position between the first conveyance unit and the second conveyance unit by a length longer than a half of the length of the print sheet. Even when the first conveyance speed and the second conveyance speed are not substantially the same, no disorder occurs in the image read with the first inspection unit.

When an inspection object is sent from the first suction conveyance unit into the second suction conveyance unit, a top edge of the inspection object abuts on and runs on the hanging prevention roller before the top edge of the inspection objects hangs down under its own weight or due to downward curling and so forth, the top edge is sandwiched between the roller and the second suction conveyance unit, and thereby stable suction conveyance is started without delay.

Abstract

Density of each pixel is specified from a test pattern for measurement of density distribution, a density profile indicating distribution of the specified density for each pixel is acquired, and a pixel region including a “nozzle of interest” having a certain density difference or more from surrounding pixels and pixels on both sides thereof is extracted as a nozzle region of interest from the acquired density profile. Filters B to E, other than a filter A to be applied for density smoothing processing of pixels that do not belong to the nozzle region of interest, are applied for the density smoothing processing of the pixels in the nozzle region of interest, to generate a profile of a density correction value for eliminating a density difference between respective pixels based on the density profile after the smoothing processing.
