Systems and methods for launching munitions are provided. In some embodiments, a launcher configured to retain a munition during transport by a vehicle may comprise a first housing, circuitry, and a second housing. The first housing may define a tube configured to hold a munition for transportation. The circuitry may provide electrical communication with a munition present within the tube. The second housing may define a tube corresponding to the tube defined by the first housing. The second housing may be configured to mount to the first housing so that the tubes defined by the first housing and the second housing combine to house and launch a munition.
Systems and methods for launching munitions are provided. In some embodiments, the system may include a launcher coupled to a vehicle and configured to retain a munition during transport by a vehicle and configured to route electrical signals from the vehicle to the munition. The system may also include a flexible, peel-away connector coupled to the launcher, the peel-away connector comprising an adhesive for coupling to at least a portion of the munition. The flexible, peel-away connector may be configured to route electrical signals from the launcher to the munition during transport and detach from the munition as the munition exits from the launcher during a launch.

In accordance with the teachings of the present disclosure, systems and methods for aligning blind-mate connectors are provided. In one embodiment, a system comprises an avionics processing canister that is coupled to a mounting block. The avionics processing canister comprises a first portion of a first blind-mate connector, and a face plate with a surface that defines a pin-hole and a slot. The slot has a short dimension substantially equal to the diameter of the pin-hole and a long dimension perpendicular to the short dimension. The long dimension is longer than the short dimension. The system also comprises a first fastener that is received through the pin-hole and then into a first hole defined by a surface of the mounting block. The pin-hole has a diameter that is substantially equal to an outer diameter of the first fastener. The system also comprises a second fastener that is received through the slot and then into a second hole defined by a surface of the mounting block. The slot is oriented such that the second fastener constrains rotation of the face plate about a center of the pin-hole to align the first portion of the first blind-mate connector to a second portion of the first blind-mate connector.

According to one embodiment, a radio has a memory for the storage of a number of records. Each record has a number of operating parameters that are used by a controller subsystem to control the radio's operation. The controller subsystem is operable to communicate with a first communication device using a first electro-magnetic signal while communicating with a second communication device using a second electro-magnetic signal configured according to one of the records. The first electro-magnetic signal uses a portion of the information transfer capacity of the radio and is devoid of a counter-intelligence signal. In accordance with one embodiment of the present disclosure, a method for controlling an aircraft by a hands on throttle-and-stick (HOTAS) includes selectively connecting, by the HOTAS, two interfaces of a controller for the aircraft. The selective connection is made through one of a plurality of possible paths. Each path has an expected respective voltage drop within a predetermined range. The selected one of the possible paths connecting the two interfaces is determined by determining an actual voltage drop associated with the selected path. A control operation for the aircraft is effected by the controller based on the determined selected path. The method reduces the number of required electrical connections.

The detonation initiator can include a linear actuator assembly having a core with a permanent magnet disposed with respect to a coil, and a firing pin coupled to the core and disposed along a longitudinal axis of the linear actuator assembly. A capacitor can be used to store electrical energy derived from an electrical pulse received by the detonation initiator. An electrical circuit can be used to monitor the charge on the capacitor and to discharge the capacitor through the coil of the linear actuator assembly to propel the core along the longitudinal axis of the linear actuator assembly when the charge on the capacitor reaches a charge threshold.

Methods and apparatus for a cable retractor device to remove slack in a lanyard coupled to a cable connector after release of an item from a vehicle. In one embodiment, the cable retractor device removes slack after the item is released from an aircraft to reduce the likelihood of damage from the connector being buffeted by wind forces.

A carriage and ejection assembly for retaining different types of stores to an aircraft and selectively ejecting a carried one of the stores away from the aircraft is disclosed. The assembly can include a sway brace having at least one contact location for each type of store, wherein during ejection of the carried store by actuation of the sway brace, the at least one contact location corresponding to the carried store applies a pitch downward moment to the carried store. Another feature of the assembly can include a direct connection of the sway brace to a moveable part of an ejection actuator. Another feature of the assembly can include independent latching and unlatching of plural store retaining hooks of the assembly. Another feature can include a compressor for pressurizing a piston of the assembly that is carried by the aircraft. Yet another feature can include a hook release actuator placed in series with and upstream of an ejector actuator.
An enforcement transponder system includes an enforcement reader in communication with an enforcement transponder. The transponders are written to identify when and where toll has been collected from a user of a toll road. In one embodiment, the system includes one or more roadside toll collection systems. This allows enforcement/verification of toll collection from SOV traffic on HOT lanes.
A mobile enforcement reader (MER) includes an antenna, a reader coupled to receive signals from the antenna and a control/display unit (CDU) coupled to the reader. The CDU selects a receive direction and processes signals provided thereto from the reader. When the MER and a transponder are in proximity, the MER interrogates the transponder and receives information related to toll payment. The MER allows enforcement officials to monitor payment by single occupancy vehicle (SOV) traffic for use of high occupancy traffic (HOT) lanes.
A method for collecting tolls on a high occupancy toll lane includes detecting a number of driver's licenses inserted into a card reader located in a vehicle and transmitting the number of driver's licenses to a roadside transceiver for a determination of a toll amount for the vehicle based on the number of driver's licenses. A transponder for use with the method includes a card reader for reading information from one or more driver's licenses inserted into the card reader and a processor operative to generate a licensed driver count related to the number of driver's licenses inserted into the card reader. In one embodiment, the processor is operative to determine whether or not a driver's license is valid and the licensed driver count is indicative of the number of valid driver's licenses inserted into the card reader.
