A toy system for sending and reading hidden secret messages including a toy dart or arrow launcher using a dart/arrow with a surface for preprinted or written messages, a pen if the message is to be written, and a decoder structure. In operation, a user pulls the handle rearward and a connector engages the ram to pull the ram rearward. The ram abuts the carriage and when the ram moves rearward the carriage also moves rearward. The carriage is attached to the spring and extends the spring when the carriage moves rearward. At a predetermined location the connector disengages the ram, which is pushed forward by the carriage, which in turn is driven by the biasing force of the spring. Before striking the lever, the carriage is stopped and the ram, being mounted to the carriage to allow relative sliding forward movement, impacts the lever causing the lever to slap the ball to cause discharge. A variation uses a latch mechanism and trigger.
Disclosed are methods and apparatus for producing images for stereoscopic, three-dimensional viewing generated with existing mobile graphical devices, such as cameras, video recorders, PDAs, telephones, and other devices, such as the iPhone TM. Two reflectors, which may be mirrors or prisms, are positioned to separate the field of view of a camera lens on the mobile graphical device into a direct field of view and an offset field of view and to record and display the separated fields in a two-paned format on the mobile graphical device. Eye lenses are used to separately view the split images. An integrated housing and cradle receive the mobile graphical device and are coupled to the reflectors and the eye lenses. An area of each pane may be provided to display control icons for three-dimensional viewing, and a control area may be provided out of view on a touch screen for user control.
A board game (1) is provided, comprising a board assembly (5) representative of a playing area and a projectile component (10). The board assembly has a plurality of magnetic or magnetically responsive regions (6a- 6e) laterally spaced from one another, each region optionally associated with a character or obstacle. The projectile component includes at least a magnetic or magnetically responsive element. Either or both of the regions of the board assembly or the element of the projectile component is magnetic, such that when the projectile component is impelled across the board assembly by a user towards one of the regions, magnetic interaction between the region and the element influences the motion of the projectile component. Also provided is a board game kit, comprising a set of cards adapted to form the aforementioned board assembly, and a projectile component as described above. Rules and methods of gameplay are also disclosed.
A toy power source comprising a figure such as a mannequin having at least one member formed of rubber, the member rubber being capable of being distorted so that its return to a natural configuration generates power. The figure is mountable in a toy constructed to be driven by the return of the figure to its natural configuration.
A method of accessing media is disclosed comprising receiving a media stream from a first data source (S100), the media stream including at least one time stamp, the or each time stamp occurring at a specified time relative to the start of the media stream. The received media stream is monitored to detect the or each time stamp. When the or each time stamp is detected (S102), the detected time stamp is compared (S104) with a database from a second data source, the database containing at least one predetermined time stamp value and a media clip associated with one of the at least one predetermined time stamp value. If the detected time stamp matches one of the at least one predetermined time stamp values in the database, the associated media clip is retrieved from the second data source (S108). The media stream and the retrieved media clips are outputted (S110).
A game assembly for housing a foldable game board which is quickly and conveniently secured to an open configuration for game play through the use of a spring loaded flexible hinge. The game assembly includes a first base portion, a second base portion capable of cooperating with the first base portion between an open and a closed configuration, and at least one hinge assembly mounted at a first end to the first base portion and at a second end to the second base portion. The hinge assembly includes a flexible strap and biasing element capable of tensioning the flexible strap to maintain the first and second base portions with respect to each other in an open configuration.
A very compact interactive animated character is provided that provides highly life-like and intelligent seeming interaction with the user thereof. The animated character can take the form of a small animal-like creature having a variety of moving body parts including a smile/emotion assembly which are coordinated to exhibit life-like emotional states by precisely controlling and synchronizing their movements in response to external sensed conditions. The animated character also includes sound generating circuitry to generate speech sounds as well as sounds associated with various emotional states, which are coordinated with a lip sync assembly simulating speech mouth movement. The drive system utilizes first and second reversible motors which are able to power and precisely coordinate the lip sync assembly producing speech mouth movement, with the movable parts and the smile/emotion assembly to produce life-like interactions and emotional expressions.
A device and method for transmitting sound waves between a signal source and a user's ears, wherein the sound waves bypass the air. The sound waves are conducted by the user's teeth and bones to the user's ears, where they are perceived as sound. Sound-transmitting toothbrushes and the like are described to transmit and/ or conduct sound to the user's ear, while the user is brushing his or her teeth. The toothbrush head (100) and a signal source (108/604) are configured to produce sound waves for transmission through the toothbrush head (100) to the user's mouth, and a tension controller is configured to control the volume of the sound waves based on the pressure applied by the toothbrush head. The signal source (10/604) may produce sound waves directly or with the assistance of a transducer.
