This hermetic rotary compressor comprises a crankshaft, an electric motor section that causes the crankshaft to rotate, a compression mechanism section driven by the crankshaft, and a hermetic container within which the aforementioned components are accommodated. The compression mechanism section is provided with a roller driven by the crankshaft, a cylinder in which the roller moves eccentrically, a vane that is provided to the cylinder and that comes into contact with the roller and partitions a compression chamber into an intake-side space and a compression-side space, a vane-accommodating groove that is provided to the cylinder and that accommodates the vane, and a spring that urges the vane in the direction of the roller. The vane is provided with a center protrusion that is provided to a rear surface of the vane and that is for positioning the spring, and end-side protrusions respectively provided to the rear-surface-side ends of the vane on both sides of the center protrusion.
