The purpose of the present invention is to provide an air conditioner that reduces the retained quantity of refrigerant in liquid-side connection piping and makes it possible to contribute to a reduction in the amount of refrigerant used when applying a flammable refrigerant or the like. This air conditioner comprises: a refrigerant circuit in which a compressor (1), an outdoor heat exchanger (3), an expansion valve (5), and an indoor heat exchanger (11) are connected by piping and in which refrigerant circulates in a first refrigeration cycle; and a supercooling means that supercools the refrigerant to at least 10K between the outdoor heat exchanger (3) and the expansion valve (5). Liquid-side connection piping (102) in the refrigerant circuit is formed from piping having an inner diameter equal to or greater than 1.5 mm and less than 4.75 mm.
