Abstract

Methods, system, and non-transitory processor-readable storage medium for an Out of Memory test baseline system are provided herein. An example method includes executing a plurality of test cases on a system. A test score calculation module calculates a test case score for each of the executed test cases in a subset of the plurality of test cases. An Out of Memory (OOM) test baseline configuration system trains a machine learning system, using the subset test scores, to predict a baseline test score for an unexecuted test case. A test case score prediction module predicts the baseline test score for the unexecuted test case. A test case configuration tuning module tunes the unexecuted test case to determine a baseline configuration for the unexecuted test case, to identify OOM issues when the unexecuted test case is executed on a test system.

Abstract

A storage system is configured to accept subsequent versions of write data on a given track to multiple respective slots of shared global memory. A track index table presents metadata at the track level, and can hold up to N slots of data. All slots of shared global memory holding data owed to the source volume and to snapshots of the source volume are bound to the track in the track index table. Each time a write occurs on a track, the track index table is used to determine when a write pending slot for the track is owed to a snapshot copy of the storage volume. When a write pending slot contains data that is owed to a snapshot copy of the source volume, a new slot is allocated to the write IO and bound to the track in the track index table.

Abstract

A first request is issued to a copy service of a virtual machine (VM) to indicate that an application running in the VM is to be backed up. The request triggers a first time window within which the application is frozen and a second time window, inside the first time window, within which a file system of the VM is frozen. A second request is issued to a snapshot data mover for a snapshot of the application. Prior to expiration of the second time window and without having received an indication that snapshot generation was successful, the copy service is notified that generation of the snapshot has been successful. A call, responsive to the notification, is received from the copy service indicating that a cleanup operation on the snapshot can proceed. Returning the call from the copy service is delayed thereby providing additional time for generating the snapshot.

Abstract

Two main methods exist today to enforce access control in a network fabric: soft zoning and hard zoning. However, each of these approaches has some significant drawbacks. Accordingly, presented herein are new and improved systems and methods to perform access control enforcement, which is stronger than soft zoning, and does not need to interact with the fabric switches, as required by hard zoning. In one or more embodiments, an authentication verification entity (AVE) is provided with access control or authorization information. In one or more embodiments, the AVE uses this information to cause an authentication verification failure for connections between hosts and subsystems that are not allowed according to configurations (e.g., zoning configurations) of the fabric.

Abstract

The technology described herein is directed towards cooperative configured grant with respect to the configured grant timeslots of multiple cells, particularly for ultra-reliable low latency communications (URLLC) devices configured for packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) for duplicate packet communications. Selection of slots is delay aware with respect to PDCP communications. By selecting a first serving cell's configured grant physical resource block (PRB) time slots in a timing alignment with a second cell's configured grant PRB time slots, end-to-end PDCP delay is reduced for duplicate communications between a user equipment communicating with the first cell and the second cell for PDCP duplication. Multiple UEs can be prioritized based on their current condition data with respect to slot assignment. Also described is a controller proposing a different configuration of configured grant slots, which the controller can then use if accepted by the deciding entity.

Abstract

A data protection agent is installed as a guest within a virtual machine (VM) hosted by a host and a snapshot data mover is installed external to the VM on the host. Upon receiving a command to conduct a backup, a first request is issued to a copy service of the VM indicating that an application in the VM is to be backed up. A second request for a snapshot is issued to the snapshot data mover. The snapshot data mover passes the snapshot request to a virtual machine manager. Upon the snapshot data mover receiving an identifier for the snapshot, the snapshot data mover passes the snapshot identifier to the agent thereby allowing the agent to locate the snapshot and conduct the backup.

Abstract

An information handling system includes a first wireless data communication interface powered by a first power rail, a processor powered by a second power rail, and a second wireless data communication interface powered by the second power rail. When the second power rail is powered off, the first power rail is powered on. The first wireless communication interface determines that the information handling system is within a predetermined distance from a wireless dock, and in response, establishes a first wireless data communication link with the wireless dock, and provides an indication to wake the processor and the second wireless data communication interface. In response to the indication, the information handling system powers on the second power rail, wakes the processor, and establishes a second wireless data communication link between the second wireless data communication interface and the wireless dock.

Abstract

A data protection agent is installed within a virtual machine (VM). A request to perform a backup is received. The request includes identifications of virtual machine disks (VMDKs) associated with the virtual machine. Communications are exchanged with a disk manager of a guest operating system of the VM to generate a map that maps the VMDKs to volumes attached to the VM. Communications are exchanged with an application in the VM to be protected to identify which of the volumes contain application databases associated with the application. A copy service is instructed to prepare the application for backup. A request is issued to a snapshot data mover for a snapshot of the application. The snapshot request includes identifications of a subset of the VMDKs mapped to corresponding volumes that contain the application databases. VMDKs mapped to corresponding volumes not containing the application databases are excluded from the snapshot request.

Abstract

An in-guest agent receives a command to conduct a backup of a virtual machine (VM) having a copy service. A discovery is initiated of disk types attached to the VM. Based on the discovery, at least first and second disks are identified. The first disk is identified as a virtual machine disk (VMDK) and the second disk is identified as a raw device mapping (RDM) disk. After the identification, a request is issued to the copy service to prepare the applications for a snapshot operation. A first request for a snapshot of the VMDK disk is issued over a socket communication channel. A second request for a snapshot of the RDM disk is issued over a TCP network to a controller of a storage array responsible for presenting the second disk to the VM. Responses to the first and second requests are managed to conduct the backup.

Abstract

Each node of a storage cluster determines its capabilities and advertises the set of capabilities along with respective capability weights to other nodes of the storage cluster. Nodes monitor their systems for capability changes and, as capabilities of the nodes dynamically change, the dynamic changes to the node capabilities are similarly advertised. The advertised capabilities are passed to a cluster service manager which creates capabilities groups based on the advertised capabilities of the nodes. When a service is deployed to the storage cluster or moved within the cluster, the cluster service manager determines the set of required capabilities associated with the service, and uses the capabilities groups to identify nodes of the storage cluster for implementation of the service. Where more than one node has advertised the required sets of capabilities, the weights are used in an election process to determine which node should be used to implement the service.

Abstract

Streaming machine telemetry (SMT) event counters are placed in critical code paths of software executing on a storage system. Each monitoring interval the values of the SMT counters are reported. When a critical error occurs on the storage system, a time series set of SMT counters from a set of previous monitoring intervals is labeled with the error type and used as a training example for a learning process. The learning process is trained to learn to learn recursions between time series sets of SMT counter values and labeled error types. Once trained, a checkpoint of the learning model is deployed as an inference model and used to predict the likely occurrence of errors before the errors occur. Predicted errors are logged into a proactive service request queue, and feedback related to the predicted errors are used as feedback to continue training the learning process.

Abstract

A clustered pair of storage systems configured for active-active bidirectional synchronous replication expose a stretched volume over paths to both storage systems. Writes to the stretched volume received at each system are replicated to the peer system. The cluster can use a time-to-live (TTL) mechanism by which a non-preferred system continuously requests a TTL grant from the preferred system to remain in the cluster. Algorithms that reduce or avoid data unavailability are described and can include assessing the health of the systems in the cluster. An unhealthy system can trigger a one-sided polarization algorithm to notify the peer system that it is polarization winner. An improved polarization technique using a witness to decide the polarization winner includes a system adding a time delay before contacting the witness if the system is unhealthy. A control component can detect an unhealthy system and disable the active-active bidirectional synchronous replication.

Abstract

A data protection agent is installed within a virtual machine (VM). A request to freeze an application in the VM is issued to a copy service. A request for a snapshot is issued to a snapshot data mover, external to the VM. Upon receiving an identifier for the snapshot, communications are exchanged with the copy service to thaw the application, the snapshot identifier is passed to the agent thereby allowing the agent to access the snapshot and rollover data from the snapshot to secondary storage for the backup, and notification to the copy service about a success of the backup is withheld. During the rollover, listening begins for status updates concerning a progress of the rollover. Based on the status updates, the copy service is notified that the backup failed or succeeded.

Abstract

A monitor stand provides a self-aligning and self-orientating swivel lock mechanism for desktop monitors so the monitor stand can be easily locked at the center position to provide better user experience and easier manufacturing. A base of a monitor stand has a die cast plate and a swivel plate attached thereto to allow the monitor stand to rotate from the center position. A lock plunger of a swivel lock mechanism travels along a circular guided cam profile on the swivel plate when the swivel lock mechanism is engaged and the monitor stand is rotated. When the swivel lock mechanism rotates to the center position, a recessed portion of the circular guided cam profile receives the lock plunger of the swivel lock mechanism to thereby lock the swivel plate at the center position. The user engages/disengages the swivel lock mechanism by pushing an engagement button that extends from the base.

Abstract

A virtual storage appliance receives a request to increase its total storage capacity, and processes the request by performing a resize operation on all backend virtual volumes that are attached to the virtual storage appliance while efficiently considering constraints of the cloud computing platform and its own system constraints. The resize operation increases a size of each one of the backend virtual volumes, e.g., by the same amount. In response to detecting that the resize operation has been completed on all the backend virtual volumes, the virtual storage appliance indicates that a new, increased total storage capacity of the virtual storage appliance is available for use. The resize operation is performed without moving any previously stored contents of the backend virtual volumes, and without changing the total number of backend virtual volumes that are attached to the virtual storage appliance.

Abstract

One example method includes defining experiences for a workload that are to be analyzed at a first machine-learning (ML) model. The experiences define an association between the workload and microservices having computing resources that execute the workload. A probability of using each of the microservices of the experiences to execute the workload is generated at a second ML mode. A determination is made of which of the experiences have a probability that indicates that the experience will generate a low reward when analyzed by the first ML model. The experiences that generate the low reward are removed from the experiences to be analyzed at the first ML model. The experiences that have not been removed are analyzed at the first ML model to determine which experience includes microservices that should be used to execute the workload.

Abstract

One example method includes receiving real-time operational data related to the operation of Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) belonging to an AMR group. Clusters of expected behavior, for the AMRs, are accessed. The clusters were generated using historical operational data. Each cluster defines a possible behavioral scenario for each AMR and includes a cluster boundary that defines a limit of the expected behavior and a cluster centroid that defines an average of expected behavior of each AMR. Resultant vectors that extend from the cluster centroid to the most recent operational point of each AMR are generated. A predetermined phase threshold value is used to determine when two or more of the resultant vectors are close to each other. The close resultant vectors are grouped to generate Resultant of Resultant Vectors (RoRs). The RoRs are used to identify behavioral scenarios of the AMRs.

Abstract

A system can determine a first correlation between respective percentages of stored garbage and respective amounts of garbage of a block storage system based on determining the respective amounts of garbage among first blocks of the respective blocks that satisfy respective criterions of the respective percentages of stored garbage. The system can, based on the first correlation, determine a second correlation between an estimated throughput applicable to reclaiming garbage in the block storage system and the respective amounts of garbage of the block storage system. The system can, based on the first correlation and the second correlation and for a specified target reclamation throughput, determine a corresponding first percentage of stored garbage of the respective percentages of stored garbage. The system can perform copy-forward garbage collection on second blocks of the block storage system that satisfy a criterion defined with respect to the first percentage of stored garbage.

Abstract

A system is provided for managing a managed infrastructure that has physical hardware components. A signalizer engine is coupled to the managed infrastructure. The signalizer engine includes a central processor and a main memory. In response to input from the managed infrastructure, the central processor and the main memory use graph coordinates to determine hop proximity of a source of an event. Clusters of events are then produced relating to one or more failures or errors in the physical elements of the managed infrastructure. Each event being is converted to words to group the events into the clusters that relate to a failure or an actionable problem in the physical hardware components to produce an output. A compare and merge engine is coupled to the signalizer engine to receive the output. In response to the output, the system executes physical corrections to the physical hardware of the managed infrastructure. One or more interactive displays is in communication with the compare and merge engine to provide a collaborative interface for allowing posts to be created.

Abstract

An information handling system includes a basic input/output system (BIOS), multiple graphics processing units (GPUs), and an advanced graphics synchronization node (AGN). The BIOS initiates boot operations for the information handling system. During a pre-extensible firmware interface phase of the boot operations, the BIOS initializes a video memory associated with the GPUs. During the boot operations, the AGN generates a firmware override table based on data in the video memory, and a redirection override table based on the data in the video memory. During operating system runtime operations, the AGN utilizes the firmware override table to synchronize outputs from the GPUs, and utilizes the redirection override table to enable a firmware update for one of the GPUs without a reboot of the information handling system.

Abstract

Automating Information Handling System (IHS) hardening optimization includes retrieving, from a plurality of IHS hardening configurations, an initial IHS hardening configuration and hardening an IHS based on the initial hardening configuration. An IHS hardening verification tool is then run to verify that the IHS is in compliance with a compliance checklist, if it is, end-to-end tests are run on the IHS, and upon passing the end-to-end tests the initial hardening option is determined to be the best hardening option for the IHS. However, in response to the IHS not passing the end-to-end tests, a next IHS hardening configuration is retrieved and the IHS is hardened based on the next hardening configuration. Running the hardening verification tool and end-to-end tests on the IHS and retrieving a further IHS hardening configuration and hardening the IHS based on the further hardening configuration is repeated, until the IHS passes the end-to-end tests.

Abstract

A radio access network node generates a physical random access channel configuration and transmits the configuration to a user equipment. The user equipment may use multiple and different uplink resources indicated in the configuration to transmit multiple preamble portions to the radio access network node based on signal strengths corresponding to available downlink beams. The preamble portions may be the same preamble, different preambles assigned in the configuration to a beam ranking index that are to be transmitted in different uplink resources associated with downlink beams ranked by the user equipment according to signal strength, or different parts of a long spread-preamble. The radio access network node may combine the preamble portions to obtain a single preamble or may request a strongest beam indication from the user equipment if a preamble portion was received in a signal corresponding to a less-than-strongest downlink beam available to the user equipment.

Abstract

Methods and systems for anomaly detection in a distributed environment are disclosed. To manage anomaly detection, a system may include an anomaly detector and one or more data collectors. The anomaly detector may detect anomalies in data obtained from one or more of the data collectors using an inference model and an anomaly threshold. The anomaly threshold may be determined by fitting a normal distribution to output of the inference model when the inference model is exercised across an input range of the inference model. The anomaly threshold may correspond to a portion of the normal distribution. To perform anomaly detection, the inference model may require periodic re-training. Data collected from the one or more data collectors may be used to re-train the inference model as needed. Following anomaly detection and/or inference model re-training, the data may be discarded to remove the data from the anomaly detector.
