An olfactometer is used to detect chemical compounds contributing to an odor of the produce at checkout. So informed, the shopper is aware of how long the produce will be considered fresh. A system and method for cloud based blacklisting of public email services from scan to email operations includes a cloud server where a blacklist is created and maintained by an administrator for one or more multifunction peripherals having IP addresses in a selected subnet. When a multifunction peripheral receives a scan to email instruction with an associated email address from a user, it requests a copy of the blacklist from the cloud server. The cloud server sends the blacklist to the multifunction peripheral if it has an IP address in the authorized subnet. The multifunction peripheral checks the destination email address and completes the scan to email operation if a domain associated with the email address is not in the blacklist. If the domain is in the blacklist, a copy of a scan file from the document scan, along with information about the multifunction peripheral being used, and time and date of the scan is sent to the administrator without informing the user that the email with the scan file is unsent.

A wireless tag communication device can write information to a wireless tag on a sheet on the first and second paths and receive responses from the wireless tag. A controller controls the wireless tag communication device to attempt to write information to the wireless tag while on the first path, then determines whether information has been written to the wireless tag on the first path according to a response received from the wireless tag. The controller switches a conveyance destination for the sheet to the second path if the information has not been written or to a discharge location if the information has been written. In a system and method for automated device onboarding to a cloud based printing system, and administrator logs in to a selected one of a group of networked multifunction peripherals and registers it to a company in accordance with a device registration code. The selected multifunction peripheral registers itself with a cloud server, and discovers other candidate multifunction peripherals for registration. The selected multifunction peripheral sends the device registration code to each discovered multifunction peripheral with an instruction to perform self-registration with the cloud server. Each discovered multifunction peripheral then registers with the cloud server. A registered user may send a document processing job to the cloud server and release from any registered multifunction peripheral.

According to an embodiment, a wireless tag communication device includes a first antenna that emits radio waves towards a first region of a conveyance path for wireless tags and a second antenna that emits radio waves towards a second region of the conveyance path on downstream of the first region along the conveyance path. A shield prevents the radio waves emitted from the first antenna from reaching a first portion of the first region while permitting the radio waves to reach a second portion of the first region. A setting unit sets a release time for releasing the occupation of the registered peripheral device, and an update unit updates the release time whenever communication occurs between the registered peripheral device and the client terminal. A release unit releases the registered occupation of the peripheral device once the release time elapses.
