Abstract

Aspects of a connector with a contact support structure are described herein. An example connector includes a housing, a wafer assembly including a terminal row and a wafer molding insert, and a wafer assembly support bar. The terminal row includes a plurality of terminal conductors. The wafer assembly support bar includes a terminal seat surface, a datum surface, and a molding interlock. A terminal conductor among the plurality of terminal conductors is electrically coupled to the terminal seat surface, and the wafer molding insert is molded and extends into the molding interlock to secure the terminal row with respect to the datum surface. Thus, the terminal row is secured with the support bar and the wafer molding insert. As compared to other designs, the support bar provides additional strength, a higher modulus of elasticity, and thermal stability.

Abstract

Methods and systems are disclosed for inspection of a potential source location (PSL) at an industrial facility that has physical components, such as pipes and valves, that transport one or more gaseous materials. A computing device assist in refocusing a technician equipped with a network of mobile sensors and a handheld device/wand to detect a gaseous emission at the industrial facility. The mobile sensors capture measurements on a recurring basis to assist the technician responsible for operating the handheld device/wand to identify exactly which physical component located within a PSL at the industrial facility are causing fugitive emissions. The disclosed system and method update an initial PSL by considering the recurring measurements and/or other inputs (e.g., weather data) to reduce the area of the initial PSL, thus better instructing the mechanic to identify the fugitive emission.

Abstract

A thermal compensator, for use in connection with arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) modules which are, in turn, utilized in conjunction with wavelength multiplexing and de-multiplexing within optical networks, is disclosed. The thermal compensator comprises a bow-shaped frame member and a central bar member. The bow-shaped frame member is characterized by a higher coefficient of thermal expansion than that of the central bar member such that the bow-shaped frame member can expand and contract at variable rates compared to that of the central bar member under certain temperature conditions. The bow-shaped frame member is adapted to be attached to a movable section of an athermal arrayed waveguide grating (AAWG) module such that the expansion and contraction movements of the bow-shaped member influence the movement of a movable section of the AAWG module in order to maintain the proper focus of the AAWG module across disparate temperature conditions.

Abstract

Computer systems, methods, and apparatuses for estimating changes in gas emissions are described. A computer system may monitor overall emission levels based on sensor outputs from a plurality of gas sensors in a facility. The computer system may estimate a total emission level over a time interval based on the accumulative, gas-response-factor weighted detections of the gas sensors. Emissions from maintenance activities maybe excluded as appropriate. The total emission level may be compared with total emission level estimated from different time intervals and/or different facilities. The computer system may be further used for comparing emissions across multiple facilities, or emissions from facilities across multiple regions.

Abstract

A thermal compensator, for use in connection with arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) modules which are, in turn, utilized in conjunction with wavelength multiplexing and de-multiplexing within optical networks, is disclosed. The thermal compensator comprises a bow-shaped frame member, a central bar member, and a screw. The bow-shaped frame member is characterized by a higher or great coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) than that of the central bar member such that the bow-shaped frame member can expand and elongate at a greater rate than can the central bar member under hot temperature conditions, however, under cold temperature conditions, the rate of contraction of the bow-shaped member is effectively retarded by the slower rate of contraction of the central bar member. The bow-shaped frame member is adapted to be attached to a movable section of an athermal arrayed waveguide grating (AAWG) module such that the expansion and contraction movements of the bow-shaped member influence the movement of a movable section of the athermal arrayed waveguide grating (AAWG) module in order to maintain the proper focus of the athermal arrayed waveguide grating (AAWG) module across disparate temperature conditions within which the athermal arrayed waveguide grating (AAWG) module is designed to operate.
