Abstract

The generation of a texture map using orthographic projections is performed in a fast and efficient manner. A method to generate texture maps taking significantly less time and also allowing maps to exploit the correlation between content of different frames in time is described herein. The texture mapping is able to be used for automatic generation of volumetric content or for more efficient compression of dynamic meshes. The texture map generation described herein includes ways to generate a texture atlas using orthographic projections. A novel stretch metric for orthographic projections is described, and a merging algorithm is devised to optimally cluster triangles into a single patch. Additionally, packing techniques are able to be used for mesh patches that try to optimize size and temporal stability.

Abstract

Techniques are described for expanding and/or improving the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) 3.0 television protocol. In an ATSC 3.0 environment, receivers (300) (including consumer and professional receivers) have signal reception parameters and antenna factors available to them. These reception parameters, together with time and location data are transmitted (602) to one or more servers that maintain databases of reception characteristics. This data is analyzed (702) such that a set of likely receivable signals (based on reception parameters, date/time, location, geographical features, transmitter information, etc.) is identified. Receivers query (604) the servers to receive information indicating the set of likely receivable signals to reduce channel scan time by scanning (606) only or first for more-receivable channels. Also, difficult reception locations identified in the data collected by the servers are used in aggregate (710) to guide RF improvements (e.g., adding SFN transmitters). Further, the data collected by the servers may provide data to be used to feed (712) "MFN" data.

Abstract

The present technology relates to an information processing device, an information processing method, and a program that make it possible to, when image capture positions and image capture directions are estimated, provide image capture positions and image capture directions that were successfully estimated and those that were unsuccessfully estimated. A reception unit acquires an image for evaluation and image capture information for evaluation. An estimation unit estimates the image capture position and image capture direction of the image for evaluation by matching feature points of a 3D map with feature points of the image for evaluation. An evaluation map creation unit creates an evaluation map that registers success/failure-related information regarding whether or not the estimation is successful in association with the image capture position and image capture direction of the image for evaluation. If the estimation is successful, an evaluation map update unit updates the success/failure-related information associated with the estimated image capture position and image capture direction, whereas if the estimation fails, the evaluation map update unit updates success/failure-related information associated with the image capture position and image capture direction represented by the image capture information for evaluation. The present technology can be applied, for example, to servers and the like.

Abstract

The present invention improves the temperature characteristics of an optical system. This optical system includes an image-forming optical system and a separation optical system. The image-forming optical system comprises a second lens group and a first lens group having positive refractive power, and said system forms an image, which is light from a subject, onto each of a visible light imaging element and an infrared light imaging element. The separation optical system separates the optical path of the light that has passed through the image-forming optical system into a visible light optical path that reaches the visible light imaging element and an infrared light optical path that reaches the infrared light imaging element. In this optical system, the first lens group comprises a plurality of cemented lenses configured by laminating a lens that has positive refractive power and a lens that has negative refractive power. When αp is defined as the average linear expansion coefficient from 100°C to 300°C in the above lens that has positive refractive power, and αn is defined as the average linear expansion coefficient from 100°C to 300°C for the lens that has negative refractive power, the plurality of cemented lenses satisfy the conditional expression |1-αp/αn|<0.2.
