Abstract

The present invention provides fluid storage and dispensing tanks and methods for storing reactive fluids, such as component fluids for two-component adhesives, foams, and sealants. The tanks contain a reactive fluid for storage until the fluid is desired to be dispensed. The tank includes a subject fluid storage chamber that contains the subject fluid independent of any propellants or other fluids or gases. When the tank is desired to be used, a propellant, such as a volatile propellant or a compressed gas (e.g. compressed air) are introduced directly into or around the storage chamber to facilitate dispensing the subject fluid from the tank. The tank may include a propellant storage chamber inside the canister body and adjacent to the subject fluid storage chamber. The propellant chamber is selectively punctured when the tank is to be used. The tank may include a flexible bladder defining the storage chamber.

Abstract

A wall tie assembly is provided for use in building construction for connecting a masonry veneer, such as brick or stone, to a building wall while inhibiting compression of building insulation disposed between an internal wall and the veneer. The wall tie assembly includes a washer through which a fastener is disposed and couples to a tie member. The fastener fixes to the structural portion of the wall through the insulation, such that the washer may interface with the exterior surface of the insulation in a manner to form a seal that prevents moisture and air from penetrating through the aperture formed in a weather barrier of the internal wall by the fastener. The tie member attaches between the head of the fastener and the washer and is bent for positioning within mortar of the masonry veneer of the wall.

Abstract

An impaling washer is provided for use in building construction. The impaling washer includes a sealing body having an aperture that is configured to receive a fastener. The fastener penetrates a membrane covering a wall and secures the sealing body to the wall. The sealing body includes an inner surface portion surrounding the aperture that seals against an outer surface of the membrane. At least one impaler extends from an outer side of the sealing body and away from the wall. The impaler is configured to engage a thermally-insulating material and hold the thermally-insulating material at the outer side of the sealing body. A thickness of the sealing body thereby forms a gap between the thermally-insulating material and the outer surface of the membrane for air insulation and drainage along the outer surface of the membrane.

Abstract

A washer holding device for temporarily retaining nonmagnetic washers being applied to a building material surface with a fastener gun comprises an arm for affixing the washer holding device to a fastener gun and a washer receptacle joined to the arm. The washer receptacle includes a contacting end, a washer receiving cavity, and a central aperture, with the contacting end defining a distal end of the washer holding device and the cavity sized to receive a nonmagnetic washer such that the washer is temporarily retained within the cavity via a friction fit. An embodiment may include a shoulder, such as an annular flange, recessed from the contacting end, with the shoulder adapted to contact the surface of a deformable building material to limit the depression of the washer receptacle into the building material. The arm may be of various configurations for use with different style fastener guns.

Abstract

First and second components are connected together by a fastener that includes a head and a shank having a bolt portion and a drill portion. The fastener is initially rotated relative to the first and second components such that the drill portion drills a hole through the first and second components. Then, the drive portion of the fastener is removed from the bolt portion of the shank of the fastener, such as by using a removal tool. Lastly, a nut is installed on the bolt portion of the shank of the fastener.

Abstract

According to the present invention, a fastener system is provided having an anchor (20) and a washer (40). The anchor includes an upset stud shaft (28) to which the washer is attached. The fastener system is preferably used in the inventive method of restoring/applying cladding such as plaster or plaster-like materials such as stucco. According to the inventive method, the anchors of the fastening system are driven into the building structure before application of a moisture barrier membrane. After application of the membrane, a support mesh (90) is secured to the anchors using the washers (40). This allows the membrane to provide a watertight seal around the fasteners. The inventive method may be used in new construction or restoration.
