Abstract

A roof attachment and weight distribution system with a base member attachable to a roofing substructure. A primary membrane is positioned intermediate an attachment member and the base member. The primary membrane is secured to the base member in a fluid tight seal. The attachment member is secured to the base via sealing of a secondary membrane to the primary membrane about the secondary membrane periphery. The base member distributes force from the mass of a fixture mounted on the attachment member substantially evenly in the direction of the roofing substructure. The base member may define a plurality of spaced attachment openings positioned to align with the crest portions of a standard corrugated roofing substructure such that alignment of one attachment opening with a crest portion will necessarily align additional openings with other crest portions.

Abstract

A roof attachment and load distribution system employs a pair of rails. The rails have a channel-like structure with aligned longitudinally spaced securement openings. Mount assemblies are mounted to the roof and have an adjustable height feature which allows the rails to be supported at a selected height above the location of the mount. The rails are disposed in a parallel level relationship regardless of the topography of the roof surface. Solar panels or other roof mounting fixtures are supported above the rails and attached by pins inserted through the securement openings of the rail.

Abstract

A self-drilling bolt and nut assembly includes a nut which has a window to permit visual inspection of the fastener thread upon engagement with the nut. The nut also includes a protective cap or receives a protective cap so that upon threadably engaging the fastener with the nut, the drill tip of the fastener is automatically received in the cap. Abstract

A sealing assembly for fluidly sealing a roof drain within a conductor pipe has a sealing element and an expansion ring. The sealing element defines an inner wall with a portion that transitions inward and may be disposed on a portion of the roof drain. The expansion ring is disposed within the inner wall. Reciprocation of the of the expansion ring along the inward transitioning portion of the inner wall causes the sealing element to expand outwardly to a sealed position with the sealing element outer wall abutting the conductor pipe inner wall in a fluid tight seal. Opposite reciprocation of the ring allows the sealing element to contract and release from the conductor pipe.

Abstract

A fastener installation guide for securing a top plate to a roof support member comprises a grip assembly, a roof support member alignment wall and a fastener retention assembly transverse to the grip assembly. The handle portion has first and second top plate alignment members oriented generally perpendicular to one another. A gripping surface extends between the first and second top plate alignment members and the roof support member alignment defines a first plane oriented transversely to the grip assembly. The fastener retention assembly defines a fastener retention channel and has a fastener alignment wall which defines a second plane, a roof support member alignment edge and a bottom edge. The fastener retention channel is oriented at an angle θ with respect to the second plane.

Abstract

An adapter for hands-free attachment of an installation clip to a commercially available power driving tool. The adapter has a frame and a magnetic element. The adapter is rigidly attachable to the nozzle of a power driving tool by mechanical forces, magnetic forces or a combination thereof. Once attached to the nozzle, the adapter allows attachment of an installation clip by magnetic forces generated by the magnetic element in a position for driving of an elongated securing member from the nozzle through an attachment hole in the clip. The force of the driven securing member overcomes the attractive magnetic forces and disengages the clip from the adapter.

Abstract

A fastener storage assembly comprises a container and a lid. The container has a bottom and two pairs of opposed sidewalls. The lid acts as a fastener alignment guide for locating a fastener to be driven through a deck board having a width w into a joist having an engagement edge face thickness t. The fastener alignment guide has a template and a pair of aligned substantially identical wings equidistantly spaced a distance w. The template defines a pair of aligned openings each having a center and a medial axis passing through each center. Each of the wings projects perpendicular to the template and defines a recess defined by a pair of parallel edges spaced a distance t. A plane through the medial axis and perpendicular to the template is equidistantly spaced the edges.

Abstract

A fastener adapted for anchoring engineered lumber panels has a threaded portion with a double included securement thread having an included angle between 15° and 25°. The ratio of the major thread diameter to the minor diameter exceeds 2.0 to provide a large thread surface to resist pull out. The fastener also includes a drill tip having an effective diameter substantially equal to the minor diameter of the thread. The fastener is configured to resist cocking upon being driven into the engineered lumber panel and to resist marring of the panel fascia.

Abstract

A construction panel includes a compressible construction sheet having opposed first and second sides. A first tubing has a plurality of longitudinally spaced aligned openings disposed at the first side. A second tubing is disposed at the second side in general alignment with the first tubing. A plurality of compression pin fasteners connects the first and second tubings. Each of the fasteners has a head which engages the first tubing. An unthreaded portion extends from the head to a threaded portion having a self-tapping drill point. The threaded portion has a buttress thread which engages the second tubing to exert a compressive force between the two tubings. An annular rock ring on the fastener is positionable such that the interior panel of the second tubing is disposed between the ring and the threaded portion.

A plug, which is dimensioned for the counterbore and has a reduced portion, is inserted into the counterbore and positioned so that its exterior surface is co-planar with the exterior surface of the cover board.

Abstract

A dispenser system employs a packaging module for use with moisture sensitive materials. The packaging module comprises an outer carton and an inner bladder, which is substantially impermeable to moisture and is filled with one part of an adhesive. The carton is loaded on a mobile cart and the one part adhesive is supplied to a pump/mixer without exposure to moisture in the atmosphere. The packaging and dispensing system can be used in conjunction with mechanized adhesive application equipment for the construction trades.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a dispensing apparatus for a two-part adhesive and a method of dispensing a moisture sensitive adhesive with a mobile applicator system. A cart having a tray and a pump assembly communicates with a mixer. A first package enclosing a bladder contains the first adhesive component, while a second package contains the second adhesive component. A first and second conduit disposed below the tray communicate between the opening of the first package and second package respectively and inlets of the pump assembly. The first and second adhesive components are pumped by the pump assembly to the mixer and dispensed therefrom. The method involves providing a package containing one part of an adhesive which is mixed with a second part to form an adhesive. The packaging and dispensing system and method can be used in conjunction with mechanized adhesive application equipment for the construction trades.

Abstract

A truss fastener which includes a shaft having a head and a tip. Threading extends along the shaft from the tip end toward the head end of the shaft. The threading is interrupted, abbreviated, and/or otherwise separated by wings projecting from the surface of the shaft. The interrupting projection extends in a generally oblique orientation to the center axis of the fastener.
