Abstract

An apparatus (1) and method for manufacturing a pouched product involves a forming unit forming a continuous supply of a pouch material (20) into a continuous channel member. A dosage unit (500) operably engaged with the forming unit (50) that receives at least one object (134) and introduces the object(s) into a dose of a filler material (130). The dosage unit (500) directs the dose of the filler material, having the object(s) therein, into the channel member. An inspection unit is arranged prior to the dosage unit (500), in operable engagement with the dosage unit, or prior to the forming unit, to inspect the object(s) or the object(s) within the dose of the filler material, wherein the inspection unit includes an emitter (401) arranged to oppose a detector(402) such that the object(s), or the object(s) within the dose of the filler material, is directed therebetween. An apparatus and method for inspecting a pouched product are also provided.

Abstract

A method of operating an aerosol generator of an aerosol provision device comprises determining a resonant frequency f0 of one or more induction elements; supplying alternating current to the one or more induction elements over multiple cycles of time, wherein each cycle of time comprises one or more first time periods T1 and one or more second time periods T2; supplying alternating current to the one or more induction elements at a first frequency f1 during the one or more first time periods T1, wherein 0.9 <_ f1/f0 <_ 1.1; and supplying alternating current to the one or more induction elements at a second different frequency f2 during the one or more second time periods T2, wherein either: (a) f2/f0 <_ 0.9; or (b) f2/f0 ≥ 1.1. This approach is simpler to implement and less demanding to components in the electronic circuit than turning the alternating current OFF during the second time periods T2.

Abstract

The present invention provides a method for modulating the alkaloid content of a plant (e.g. a tobacco plant), the method comprising modifying said plant by modulating the activity or expression of a protein kinase. The present invention also provides for the use of a protein kinase for modulating the alkaloid content of a plant, as well as tobacco cells, plants, plant propagation materials, harvested leaves, processed tobaccos, or tobacco products obtainable in accordance with the invention.
