Abstract

The invention relates to a method for recycling the contents of aerosol cans, the contents comprising a liquid, the method comprising: a) applying a reduced pressure to at least the liquid, thereby removing a gaseous fraction from the liquid, leaving a liquid fraction, the gaseous fraction containing at least gaseous matter previously dissolved in the liquid fraction; b) discharging the gaseous fraction separate from the liquid fraction; c) cooling the gaseous fraction, thereby condensing low-boilers present in the gaseous fraction; and d) discharging the condensate separately from the remainder of the gaseous fraction. The system also relates to a system for recycling the contents of aerosol cans.

Abstract

A device for batch-wise processing of spray cans includes a first chamber for batch-wise separation of spray cans into solid parts, liquid and gas by separating means, feed means for feeding the spray cans into the first chamber, and first discharge means for discharging the solid parts from the first chamber. A wall of the first chamber is provided with a plurality of passages for allowing passage of the liquid and the gas but unsuitable for allowing passage of the solid parts, a second chamber surrounds the first chamber or at least the portion of the wall provided with the passages. The device further includes second discharge means for discharging the gas from the second chamber, and third discharge means for discharging the liquid from the second chamber. A method for batch-wise processing of spray cans using the aforementioned device.

Abstract

A device for processing spray cans includes a first space, separating means for separating spray cans in the first space, a second space, first transport means for transporting gas from the first space to the second space, and compressing means for compressing gas in the second space. The device also includes second transport means for transporting heat, released during compressing of the gas, from the second space to the first space. The second transport means includes a conduit for having a fluid, flow therethrough. A method for processing of spray cans by means of such a device.

Abstract

Device for processing of spray cans, the de vice comprising a first space, separating means for separating spray cans in the first space, a second space, first transport means for transporting gas from the first space to the second space, and compressing means for compressing gas in the second space, characterized in that the device also comprises second transport means configured and suitable for transporting heat, released during compressing of the gas, from the second space to the first space. The second transport means for instance comprise here a conduit for having a fluid, preferably a coolant, flow therethrough. Also method for processing of spray cans by means of such a device. The term 'space' is understood in the context of the invention to mean 'a determined part of the device'. When process parameters such as heat flow, gas flow, temperatures and pressures are.set correctly, solid material, active substance and propellant are discharged separately, and can then separately be further processed, destroyed or reused. Heat which is released during the compressing / condensing of gas in the second space is used to compensate for cold which is released during expansion of gas and/or evaporation of liquid in the first space. Thus it is brought about that the first space does not become too cold and the second space does not become too hot, while the whole process is energy-efficient.

Abstract

Device for batch-wise processing of spray cans, the device comprising: - a first chamber configured and suitable for hatch-wise separation of spray cans into solid parts, liquid and gas by means of separating means provided for this purpose: - feed means for feeding the spray cans into the first chamber; and - first discharge means for discharging the solid parts from the first chamber, characterized in that: - a wall of the first chamber is provided with a plurality of passages configured and suitable for allowing passage of the liquid and the gas but unsuitable for allowing passage of the solid parts; and - the device also comprises: - a second chamber which surrounds the first chamber or at least the portion of the wail provided with the passages; - second discharge means for discharging the gas from the second chamber; and third discharge means for discharging the liquid from the second chamber. Also method for batch-wise processing of spray cans by means of such a device. Spray cans can thus be separated in batches, wherein propellant, active substance and solid material of the containers are discharged, captured and collected separately for further processing, destruction or reuse. A device according to the invention is of relatively simple construction, with a minimum of (moving) parts, robust, and not very susceptible to malfunction, and is thereby relatively inexpensive to purchase, use and maintain. Large numbers of spray cans can be processed quickly and properly according to a method according to the invention.
