Abstract

An image forming apparatus includes a head, a detector, and circuitry. The head forms an image on a recording medium. The detector detects a vertical movement of the recording medium and a distance to the recording medium in a vertical direction. The detector includes an optical sensor to project light to the recording medium and receive the light reflected from the recording medium. The circuitry sets a first area based on a result of detection performed by the detector. The first area is an area in which the recording medium and the head collide with each other. The circuitry retracts the head to prevent the recording medium and the head from colliding with each other, in a case where a position of the head is in the first area.

Abstract

System, method, and software of providing a printing service. In one embodiment, a printing system comprises a cloud printing service that stores device capability information for different types of printers supervised by a print server. The cloud printing service receives a print job, identifies a plurality of the printers that are capable of printing the print job based on the device capability information, and transforms printable content and control data of the print job into a plurality of printer-specific print streams. Each of the printer-specific print streams is in a printable output format for one of the plurality of the printers. The cloud printing service provides one or more of the printer-specific print streams to the print server.

Abstract

An image-capturing system includes circuitry to receive multiple phase images for each of multiple phases. The multiple phase images include multiple first phase images captured under a first condition and one or more second phase images captured under a second condition different from the first condition, and the multiple first phase images are greater in number than the one or more second phase images. The circuitry calculates, for each of the multiple phases, a motion amount, at least, among the multiple first phase images of a same phase; performs correction on the multiple first phase images of the same phase based on the motion amount; and performs addition processing on the multiple first phase images of the same phase, so as to generate a summed phase image for each of the multiple phases.

Abstract

An image forming apparatus includes a body having an opening, a door on the body, a unit detachably attached to the body from the opening, a cover inside the door, a spring, and a lock. The door covers the opening at a first closed position. The unit is disposed at a mounting position inside the body. The cover is rotatable between a second closed position and an opening position in an opening direction. At the second closed position, the cover covers the unit at the mounting position. At the opening position, the cover forms an angle of 90 degrees or more with the body. The spring applies a force to the cover in the opening direction. The lock locks the cover at the second closed position. The cover displaced from the second closed position in the opening direction restricts a movement of the door to the first closed position.

Abstract

Systems and methods are provided for validating an autoencoder for a printing system. In one embodiment, a system stores values associated with individual features at a printing system and further stores times indicating when the values were determined at the printing system. The system also operates an autoencoder to perform time-compression upon the values and the times. Validating the autoencoder includes: determining predictive powers of the individual features prior to time-compression via partial F tests, determining predictive powers of the individual features after time-compression via partial F tests, and determining differences between the predictive powers of the individual features before time-compression and the predictive powers of the individual features after time-compression. Depending upon differences in the predictive powers, a report is generated indicating validity or invalidity of the autoencoder.

Abstract

A display apparatus includes a plurality of connectors including a first connector and a second connector, a power supply, a display panel, and circuitry. Each of the plurality of connectors is connectable with one of a plurality of external devices including a first external device and a second external device. The circuitry is to detect that one of the plurality of external devices is connected to one of the plurality of connectors, perform negotiation on electric power with the external device that is detected, and control the power supply to output, based on a result of the negotiation, electric power to be used by the external device that is detected from the connector. In a case that the circuitry detects that the first external device is connected to the first connector and the second external device is connected to the second connector, the circuitry is further to control the power supply to output electric power, input from the first connector connected to the first external device, from the second connector to the second external device. In a case that the electric power to be output from the second connector is determined to be smaller in amount than the electric power to be used by the second external device, the circuitry is to control the power supply to reduce power consumption of the display apparatus to output an amount of the electric power to be used by the second external device from the second connector.

Abstract

Systems and methods are provided for enhanced flushing of printing systems. One embodiment is a printing system that includes an ink flushing controller. The ink flushing controller is able to identify an overlap region wherein nozzles at adjacent printheads of a marking engine overlap along a widthwise direction, to detect primary nozzles that print image data within the overlap region, and to detect overlap nozzles that do not have firing instructions to eject ink within the overlap region. The ink flushing controller is further able to analyze nozzle firing data for each overlap nozzle to determine inactive firing spans for each overlap nozzle, and in response to determining that an inactive firing span for an overlap nozzle exceeds a threshold, to generate a firing instruction directing the overlap nozzle to eject ink.

Abstract

An image forming apparatus includes a photoconductor that bears an image and an intermediate transfer device that forms a primary transfer nip between the photoconductor and the intermediate transfer device. The intermediate transfer device primarily transfers the image from the photoconductor onto the intermediate transfer device at the primary transfer nip. A secondary transfer device forms a secondary transfer nip between the intermediate transfer device and the secondary transfer device. The secondary transfer device secondarily transfers the image from the intermediate transfer device onto a recording medium at the secondary transfer nip. At least one support shaft supports the intermediate transfer device. The at least one support shaft supports, on an identical axis, one lateral end and another lateral end of the secondary transfer device in a width direction of the recording medium.

Abstract

A method for capturing a subject, using an image capturing device mounted on a mobile apparatus. The image capturing device divides a target area of the subject into a plurality of image capturing areas in a moving direction of the mobile apparatus, and captures the plurality of image capturing areas, while moving with the mobile apparatus. The method includes: setting, as a focusing condition for the image capturing device, a focus distance that is commonly used to capture the plurality of image capturing areas in the target area, such that the plurality of image capturing areas are within depth of field; and capturing, with the image capturing device, the plurality of image capturing areas at the focus distance that is set as the focusing condition.

Abstract

A maintenance management system includes circuitry. The circuitry, in a case that, in addition to a first maintenance, a second maintenance is to be performed, the second maintenance being a maintenance that is extraordinarily added differently from the first maintenance, sets a recommended time period for executing the second maintenance to be longer than a time required for the second maintenance, and displays a maintenance schedule including a recommended time period for executing the first maintenance and the recommended time period for executing the second maintenance.

Abstract

In an image processing device, an image capturing section receives light reflected by a document, captures an image of the document with the light, and generates read data of the image. The light includes visible light and invisible light. The image includes a visible image and an invisible image. A first image processing circuit detects coordinates of first points on a boundary between the document and a white reference plate in the visible image and coordinates of second points on the boundary in the invisible image, calculates a first detection result, first detection error information, a second detection result, and second detection error information, and selects the first or second detection result based on the first and second error information. The calculation of the first detection result and the first error information and the calculation of the second detection result and the second error information are sequentially performed.

Abstract

A transfer device includes a belt, a transferor, a holder, a biasing member, and a movement mechanism. The transferor is movable to contact the belt, The holder holds the transferor. The biasing member biases the transferor toward the belt. The movement mechanism contacts the holder and causes the transferor to move in a direction opposite to a direction in which the biasing member biases the transferor. The holder includes a contact portion to contact the movement mechanism and a holder portion. The contact portion includes a material having a higher rigidity than the holder portion.
