Abstract

The present invention provides flexible polymer diodes in the form of a printable polymer sandwich configuration similar to that found in electroactive polymer transducers. The inventive flexible polymer diodes comprise a dielectric layer sandwiched between a pair of electrodes. With appropriate optional additives introduced in the electrode formulation and the proper electrical properties in the electrode, a device may be constructed which allows current to pass through for only one polarity of applied voltage.

Abstract

A method for making a rolled dielectric elastomer transducer includes rolling a dielectric film laminate into a solid dielectric elastomer transducer roll. An apparatus includes a drive mechanism for receiving a carrier plate with a dielectric film laminate located on a top surface thereof. The drive mechanism is configured to drive the carrier plate in a first direction. A scrub roller is configured to counter-rotate in a second direction relative to the first direction and frictionally engage the dielectric film to roll the dielectric film laminate into a solid dielectric elastomer transducer roll. The apparatus may also include a fixed jaw and a movable jaw movable relative to the fixed jaw to define a longitudinal aperture for receiving a solid dielectric elastomer transducer roll therein. A cutter is configured to segment the solid dielectric elastomer transducer roll into at least two or more individual solid dielectric elastomer transducer rolls.

Abstract

The method comprises the steps of providing a flow reactor, defining threshold values, comparing energy prices, energy composition with regard to renewable sources, and/or desired ratios of H2 to CO, and selecting between the operating modes of dry reforming/steam reforming and reverse water gas shift reaction. The threshold value S1 concerns the costs of the electrical energy available for the flow reactor, and the threshold value S2 concerns the relative share of electrical energy from renewable sources of the electrical energy available for the flow reactor. A third threshold value S3 contains the desired H2/CO ratio in the product gas. Either dry reforming and/or steam reforming or RWGS is performed depending on the threshold values.

Abstract

The method comprises the steps of providing a flow reactor, which is designed to react a fluid comprising reactants, defining a threshold value S1 for the costs of the electrical energy available for the flow reactor and/or a threshold value S2 for the relative share of electrical energy from renewable sources of the electrical energy available for the flow reactor and/or a threshold value S3 for the requirement for carbon monoxide and/or hydrogen in one or more downstream production processes. Strongly endothermic reactions (DR, SMR) or weakly endothermic reactions (RWGS) are performed depending on whether said threshold values are exceeded or fallen below.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method for producing syngas in an alternating operation between two operating modes. The method has the steps of providing a flow reactor; endothermically reacting carbon dioxide with hydrocarbons, water, and/or hydrogen in the flow reactor, at least carbon monoxide being formed as the product, under the effect of heat generated electrically by one or more heating elements (110, 111, 112, 113); and at the same time exothermically reacting hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, and/or hydrogen as reactants in the flow reactor. The exothermic reaction releases a heat quantity Q1, the electric heating of the reactor releases a heat quantity Q2, and the exothermic reaction and the electric heating of the reactor are operated such that the sum of Q1 and Q2 is greater than or equal to the heat quantity Q3 which is required for an equilibrium yield Y of the endothermic reaction of ≥ 90%.

Abstract

The method comprises the steps of providing a flow reactor, which is designed to react a fluid comprising reactants, defining several threshold values, and comparing the threshold values with the current conditions in the reactor.
