Abstract

A saw including a lockout mechanism having a lever and a plunge stop. The lever has a trigger abutment surface and is movable between a safety position in which the trigger abutment surface inhibits actuation of a trigger and a use position in which the trigger abutment surface permits actuation of the trigger. The plunge stop is coupled to the lever and is movable with the lever between a first position and a second position. The first position corresponds with the safety position of the lever. In the first position, the plunge stop inhibits a motor housing of the saw from being moved from a raised position toward a plunged position. The second position corresponds with the use position of the lever. In the second position, the plunge stop permits the motor housing to be moved from the raised position toward the plunged position.

Abstract

A robotic garden tool includes at least one sensor configured to generate signals associated with an object within an operating area. A first electronic processor of the robotic garden tool receives, from the at least one sensor, an obstacle signal associated with an obstacle located within the operating area. The first electronic processor determines a first location of the robotic garden tool at a time corresponding to when the first electronic processor received the obstacle signal. The first electronic processor determines a second location of the obstacle based on the obstacle signal and the first location of the garden tool. The first electronic processor generates mapping information of the operating area that includes a virtual boundary based on the second location of the obstacle. The first electronic processor controls the robotic garden tool in the operating area to remain outside of the virtual boundary based on the mapping information.

Abstract

A method of creating a virtual boundary for a robotic garden tool includes receiving location coordinates of a location in which the robotic garden tool is intended to be operated. The method also includes retrieving, from a first server and based on the location coordinates, a preexisting visual media file of the location in which the robotic garden tool is intended to be operated. The preexisting visual media file includes metadata that includes coordinate information of the location shown in the preexisting visual media file. The method includes generating virtual boundary coordinates of the virtual boundary based at least partially on the preexisting visual media file and the coordinate information. The method includes controlling, with a first electronic processor of the robotic garden tool, the robotic garden tool to be confined by the virtual boundary to remain in an operating area during operation of the robotic garden tool.

The external device is configured to generate a first key pair including a first private key for a robotic garden tool and a first public key for a server device. The external device transmits the first private key to the robotic garden tool, and transmits the first public key to the server device. The robotic garden tool is configured to receive an encrypted first instruction from the server device. The encrypted first instruction was encrypted by the server device using the first public key. The robotic garden tool is configured to decrypt the encrypted first instruction using the first private key to generate a decrypted first instruction. The robotic garden tool is configured to control operation of the robotic garden tool in accordance with the decrypted first instruction.

Abstract

Centrifugal clutch mechanisms, and transmissions and lawnmowers having centrifugal clutch mechanisms are provided. A centrifugal clutch mechanism includes a clutch bell comprising an annular wall and a circular ring extending away from the annular wall to define an internal cavity, wherein the circular ring comprises an inward facing surface defining a drive surface. The centrifugal clutch mechanism also includes a plurality of centrifugal weights disposed in the internal cavity and an inward biasing element engaged with the centrifugal weights. The inward biasing element biases the centrifugal weights towards a disengaged position in which the centrifugal weights do not interface with drive surface, and upon application of a sufficient centrifugal force, the centrifugal weights are configured to transition to an engaged position in which the centrifugal weights interface with the drive surface.

Abstract

Systems and methods for under-voltage protection features in power tools. One power tool provides a motor, a power source, a voltage sensor, and a controller. The power source is configured to selectively provide power to the motor. The voltage sensor is configured to sense a voltage of the power source. The controller is configured to monitor, with the voltage sensor, the voltage of the power source and reduce, when the voltage of the power source is less than or equal to a first threshold value, a current provided from the power source to the motor. The controller is configured to stop, when the voltage of the power source is less than or equal to a second threshold value, providing the current from the power source to the motor.

Abstract

A floor cleaner has a fluid flow path, a fluid flow motor, a liquid distribution assembly, and a recovery tank positioned in the fluid flow path and configured to receive liquid-laden air from the air inlet. The liquid distribution assembly has a first supply tank for a first liquid, a second supply tank for a second liquid, and a mixing module for mixing the first liquid and the second liquid. The mixing module has a mixing chamber that allows the first and second liquids to mix before being expelled through an outlet of the mixing module. The mixing module includes a closure that is movable between a closed position and an open position. In the closed position, the closure closes the outlet to prevent fluid flow through the outlet. In the open position, the closure opens the outlet to allow fluid flow through the outlet.

Abstract

A robotic garden tool may include an object detection sensor. Object detection data from the object detection sensor may indicate a respective position of each of one or more objects with respect to the robotic garden tool. The robotic garden tool may be configured to execute a speed control algorithm that may include determining, based on the object detection data, whether any objects are present within a detection area of the object detection sensor. The speed control algorithm also may include adjusting a speed of the robotic garden tool and/or a travel direction of the robotic garden tool based on whether and where any objects are detected within the detection area.

Abstract

A floor cleaner assembly includes a charging station body and a floor cleaner. The charging station body has front and rear outer surfaces, and an upwardly extending protruding member that includes a charging port. The floor cleaner includes a suction source, a dirt collection container, a lateral protrusion that defines a recess extending upwardly from a bottom surface and includes an electrical contact. A battery provides power to the floor cleaner and electrically connects to the electrical contact within the protrusion. While the floor cleaner is connected to the charging station, the protruding member of the charging station extends into the recess of the floor cleaner protrusion to retain the floor cleaner on the charging station, and the charging port forms an electrical connection with the electrical contact while the floor cleaner is connected to the charging station.
