F41A 5/20 - Mechanisms or systems operated by propellant charge energy for automatically opening the lock gas-operated using a gas piston arranged concentrically around the barrel
In accordance with the first exemplary embodiment a semi-automatic M-4 type firearm is provided. The firearm comprises a receiver and a reversible safety selector. The receiver has a right side and a left side. The reversible safety selector is rotatably coupled to the receiver and comprises a shaft with a user selector member at one end. The user selector member is adapted to allow a user to move the reversible safety selector relative to the receiver. The reversible safety selector is adapted to be mounted to the receiver in a first position with the user selector member located on the right side of the receiver. The reversible safety selector may be mounted to the receiver in a second position different from the first position with the user selector member located on the left side of the receiver.
A rifle having a receiver with an integral hand guard and a barrel. The barrel is connected to the receiver. The hand guard extends over and surrounds the barrel. A removable hand guard is attached to the receiver by an attachment that stably holds the removable hand guard to the receiver. The attachment is arranged for allowing detachment and removal of the removable hand guard from the receiver without removal of fasteners.
A model 1911 semi automatic pistol having a receiver, a barrel, a breach slide and a firing mechanism. The barrel is coupled to the receiver. The breach slide coupled to the receiver. The firing mechanism is coupled to the receiver. The firing mechanism is adapted for double action operation. The firing mechanism has a hammer with a firing pin strike surface and an engagement surface enabling single action operation of the firing mechanism. The engagement surface is movable relative to the firing pin strike surface.
An M4 type automatic or semi-automatic firearm having an indirect gas operating system. A bolt assembly has a striking surface. The bolt assembly is enclosed within an M4 type receiver assembly. A barrel assembly having a bore is coupled to the receiver assembly. A gas block having a cylinder is fitted to the barrel assembly with the cylinder in communication with the bore. A piston and rod assembly has a piston and a striking rod, with the piston fitted to the cylinder. Gas discharged from a fired cartridge displaces the piston and causes the striking rod to strike the striking surface displacing the bolt assembly.
An M-4 firearm having a lower receiver assembly and an upper receiver assembly. The upper receiver assembly is connected to the lower receiver assembly. The lower receiver assembly has a fire control assembly. The upper receiver assembly has a barrel and a hand guard. The hand guard has a venting features for allowing cooling air to pass therethrough. The hand guard has a heat shield mounted therein. The hand guard has at least one peripheral device mounting rail. The hand guard has an upper portion and a removable lower portion. The removable lower portion has at least one peripheral device mounting rail. The removable lower portion may be removed and replaced with a different second removable lower portion without the removal of fasteners.
An automatic firearm capable of automatic or semiautomatic fire. The firearm has a receiver having a moveable hammer. A selector is rotatably mounted in the receiver. A first sear is rotatably mounted in the receiver to engage the hammer where the first sear contacts a first camming surface of the selector. A second sear is rotatably mounted in the receiver to engage the hammer where the second sear contacts a second camming surface of the selector. A disconnect is rotatably mounted in the receiver where the disconnect contacts a third camming surface of the selector. The selector has a number of selectable positions disposed so that rotation of the selector between a first and last selectable position of the number of selectable positions is less than 180 degrees.
