Abstract

According to the invention there is an apparatus for printing onto cylindrical structures comprising: a plurality of inker devices each comprising a print cylinder and one or more servomotors for adjustably controlling the position or orientation of a print cylinder; a blanket device comprising a plurality of print blankets, in which the blanket device is configured to bring each print blanket into contact with the print cylinders to transfer ink from the print cylinders to the print blanket, and to bring each print blanket into contact with a cylindrical structure to achieve printing thereon; a transporter for transporting the cylindrical structures into and out of contact with the print blankets; and an automatic print correction system comprising a print inspection device for detecting a misregistration of ink transferred from one or more of the print cylinders onto a print blanket, and a controller for controlling the servomotors of the print cylinders to correct the misregistration in response to data received from the print inspection device.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a method and a device of managing a set of lids, stacked and inserted in a packaging, including the steps of pressing said set and displacing it, with a transport device, keeping the lids in the packaging; pressing a second portion of the set with a handle; moving the handle so as to take at least a part of the second portion towards the first portion; displacing the handle so as to place the second portion against the first portion; immobilizing the second portion against the first portion with an immobilizing device; opening the handle(and moving it away from the set. The invention also relates to a system for producing palletized sets of lids.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a method of packaging a set of stacked lids, which includes the steps of capturing an empty, flat package, comprising an inlet, by securing a vacuum terminal in the immediate proximity of the inlet of the package and maintaining this package straight; maintaining the vacuum terminal activated, retaining the package, and producing an air jet towards the inlet of the package so as to open the inlet of the package; maintaining a vacuum terminal activated, retaining the package and fitting the inlet of the package thus opened in a feed nozzle; transferring into the package a set of stacked lids, the set of lids passing through the feed nozzle and the inlet of the package to the interior of the package. The present invention also relates to a packaging device for sets of stacked lids.

Abstract

A method of consecutively decorating a plurality of substantially identical metallic beverage container bodies uses a dry offset decorating apparatus without manufacturing interruption wherein each of the metallic beverage container bodies has an open end separated from a closed end by a circumferential side wall. The method requires engaging a circumferential side wall of a first metallic beverage container body with a first ink receiving surface of a first image transfer blanket and rotating the first metallic beverage container body circumferential side wall at least 6.6 radians while engaged with the first ink receiving surface and along a length of the first ink receiving surface greater than a circumferential length of the first metallic beverage container body circumferential side wall. A second metallic beverage container is similarly processed to produce consecutively decorated metallic beverage container bodies have dissimilar design elements.
