Abstract

There are disclosed various methods, apparatuses and computer program products for video decoding or encoding. In some embodiments for decoding a block that contains quantized residual coefficients based on at least two color channels of a video presentation or an image is received. A first quantization parameter and an offset defining a relationship between the first quantization parameter and a second quantization parameter for the block are obtained. The value of the second quantization parameter is determined by using the first quantization parameter and the offset. The residual samples are reconstructed by dequantizing the quantized residual coefficients using the second quantization parameter, if the block has been encoded by using a cross-channel residual coding mode.

Abstract

The invention relates to creating and viewing stereo images, for example stereo video images, also called 3D video. At least three camera sources with overlapping fields of view are used to capture a scene so that an area of the scene is covered by at least three cameras. At the viewer, a camera pair is chosen from the multiple cameras to create a stereo camera pair that best matches the location of the eyes of the user if they were located at the place of the camera sources. That is, a camera pair is chosen so that the disparity created by the camera sources resembles the disparity that the user's eyes would have at that location. If the user tilts his head, or the view orientation is otherwise altered, a new pair can be formed, for example by switching the other camera. The viewer device then forms the images of the video frames for the left and right eyes by picking the best sources for each area of each image for realistic stereo disparity.

Abstract

Techniques for expanded content tag sharing include determining that a first user is associated with content provided by a different second user. Data is recorded that indicates the first user is authorized to associate a different third user with the content provided by the second user, without further input by the second user. In some embodiments, the data that indicates the content provided by the second user includes data that indicates a plurality of contents. Some techniques include determining a message received from a first user indicates a portion of content associated with the first user, and a second user. The portion of the content is rendered on an apparatus of the second user. The second user is prompted for associating, with the portion of the content, an item identifier, such as text or another user, for the portion of the content.
