Abstract

A multiple antenna system is described herein that mitigates the negative effects of mutually coupled antennas on the connected transmitters and/or receivers. The antenna system comprises a directional coupler and two or more antennas. The directional coupler comprises multiple communication ports that each connect to corresponding antenna ports. The connection ports each connect to a different transmitter, receiver, or transceiver. A transmission line connects each antenna port to an antenna. The lengths of the transmission lines and the coupling factor of the directional coupler are selected to decouple the communication ports of the directional coupler. More particularly, the coupling factor and the transmission line lengths are selected so that antenna crosstalk signals caused by mutual coupling between the antennas and the coupled signals produced by the directional coupler have the same magnitude but opposite phase at the communication ports of the directional coupler.

Abstract

Embodiments include a method of communicating an audio stream from an audio source terminal to a plurality of speaker terminals. A broadcast channel is established for communication from an audio source terminal to a plurality of speaker terminals. A plurality of bidirectional point-to-point control channels are established for controlling wireless communications between the audio source terminal and the speaker terminals, where each of the point-to-point control channels interconnect the audio source terminal and a different one of the speaker terminals. An audio stream is transmitted as a sequence of blocks of audio data in messages from the audio source terminal through the broadcast channel for receipt by all of the speaker terminals. A quality of reception feedback message is received at the audio source terminal from individual ones of the speaker terminals through respective ones of the point-to-point control channels. The audio data messages are adapted for transmission from the audio source terminal through the broadcast channel in response to the quality of reception feedback message.

Abstract

Bluetooth standard provides the applications with different profiles which allow for example only a specific number of devices operable in one network using the same profile. Without changing the Bluetooth standards the described apparatus and method provide a solution to allow wireless devices to receive data addressed to other wireless devices. Therefore a wireless electronic apparatus for Bluetooth communication receives data specifically addressed to said wireless electronic apparatus and to a wireless electronic device for Bluetooth communication, said wireless electronic device being operable to receive data specifically addressed to said wireless electronic device, said wireless electronic apparatus being different from said wireless electronic device. This can be realised for example by a wrist display which can pickup the electromagnetic waves containing the audio signals sent to the headset. Afterwards the properties can be displayed on the wrist to inform the user about the status of the audio signals or the cell phone transmitting the audio signals.

Abstract

A voltage controlled oscillator, such as a VCXO (Voltage Controlled Crystal Oscillator), for generating a desired reference frequency in a wireless terminal with a reduced start-up time is described herein. According to the present invention, the VCXO comprises an oscillator that generates the desired reference frequency based on a variable voltage applied to the oscillator by a voltage controller. In addition, the VCXO includes a start-up controller that applies a bias voltage to an oscillator input node to reduce a capacitance associated with the oscillator, and therefore, to reduce the start-up time without negatively impacting the DC current consumption or the tuning range of the VCXO.

A mobile terminal for use in a wireless communication system comprises a housing encloses electronic components operable to transmit and receive telecommunication signals. The housing includes means for providing user input to the mobile terminal.
