Abstract

A developing device includes a development container, a toner carrier, and a regulation blade. The toner carrier supplies toner contained in the development container to an image carrier in a facing region between the toner carrier and the image carrier. The regulation blade contacts the toner carrier on an upstream side of the facing region in a rotation direction of the toner carrier, and regulates a thickness of a layer of the toner carried on the toner carrier. A printing system provides consumable use estimation for print jobs using an estimation system and the digital front end (DFE) of a printing device. A hybrid consumable use estimation process is enabled that minimizes impact to the production printing at the printing device. The DFE of the printing device generates a consumable use estimate using an estimate job queue and raster image processor (RIP) separate from the normal job queues. The estimate job queue does not generate print data. Using the rendered data, the DFE generates the consumable use estimate and returns it to the estimation system. The printing device then prints the document for the print job and provides the actual consumable use to the estimation system for monitoring and tracking of consumable use. Abstract

A postprocessing device is attached to an image forming apparatus. The postprocessing device includes a processing tray, a sheet processor, and a fan. The processing tray is for stacking thereon sheets on which an image has been formed and which is transported from the image forming apparatus. The sheet processor performs predetermined postprocessing on the sheets stacked on the processing tray. The fan forms an air layer between an upper face of the sheets already stacked on the stacking surface of the processing tray and a lower face of a sheet newly placed on the processing tray, by emitting air in a transport direction of the sheet, from an upstream side in the transport direction toward the stacking surface.

Abstract

A file management system includes a communication device and a control device. The control device acts as a file manager, a file outputter, an information file generator, and a file merger. Abstract

In an image formation device, a driven gear is coupled to a far end portion in a unit inserting and withdrawing direction of a rotary fixing member or a rotary pressure member of a fixing unit. A driving gear is provided in a far end portion of a fixing unit housing part and engages with the driven gear when the fixing unit is housed in the fixing unit housing part. The driving gear and the driven gear are formed so that a transmission force transmitted from the driving gear to the driven gear in a mutual engagement position has a component so directed as to horizontally press the fixing unit against columns making a pair. The fixing unit as housed in the fixing unit housing part is pressed by the transmission force against the columns and positioned in a direction orthogonal to the unit inserting and withdrawing direction.

Abstract

A document conveying device according to the present disclosure includes a sheet feeding tray, a discharge tray, a feeding roller, a first lifting mechanism, a conveying mechanism, a support member and a second mechanism. On the sheet feeding tray, a document is stacked. The discharge tray is provided below the sheet feeding tray. The feeding roller feeds the document on the sheet feeding tray. The first lifting mechanism supports both end portions of the sheet feeding tray in a width direction intersecting a conveying direction of the document, and lifts and lowers the sheet feeding tray such that an upper surface of the document comes in contact with the feeding roller. The support member supports the sheet feeding feed tray on an upstream side of the first lifting mechanism in the conveying direction. The second lifting mechanism lifts and lowers the support member in synchronization with the sheet feeding tray.

Abstract

A heating unit urging member urges a first support body of a heating unit toward a second support body of a fixing unit with elastic force. The heating unit urging member brings the first support body into contact with the second support body and brings the second support body into contact with two struts. An interlocking mechanism moves the heating unit along a direction in which the heating unit and the fixing unit are arranged, in conjunction with movement of an operation portion. A guide unit holding portion is formed at a position between two struts in a longitudinal direction of a fixing unit.
