Abstract

A color printing system manages ICC profiles by controlling ink use without performing the ICC profile creation operations. To obtain an ink limit for an ICC profile, a table associated with the ICC profile is parsed to determine the ink limit. The ink limit is decreased or increased. For an ink limit decrease, a color over the decreased ink limit is adjusted to meet the new ink limit. The ICC profile is updated accordingly. For an ink limit increase, the combination of primary colors are boosted by a percentage amount. Checks are made with regard to the volume-based ink limit and an quality check operation to accepted the boosted amount. The ICC profile is updated accordingly.

Abstract

A liquid ejection apparatus includes a nozzle, a pressure chamber, a piezoelectric element, an acquisition processing portion, and a restriction processing portion. The nozzle ejects a liquid. The pressure chamber communicates with the nozzle and contains the liquid. The piezoelectric element changes a pressure in the pressure chamber in response to an input of a drive signal. When image formation processing for ejecting the liquid from the nozzle is executed based on image data, the acquisition processing portion acquires a length of a non-ejection period in which the liquid is not ejected from the nozzle, the non-ejection period being included in an execution period of the image formation processing. When the length of the non-ejection period acquired by the acquisition processing portion is less than a predetermined first threshold value, the restriction processing portion restricts abnormality detection processing for detecting an abnormality of the nozzle using the piezoelectric element.

Abstract

An estimation system provides consumable use estimations, such as for ink or toner, in printing operations. The estimation system uses a classification-based consumable use process to estimate the consumable use. A print job is assigned a classification category according to an arbitrary job category selected for the print job and a job property defined for the print job using job settings. An estimate is provided using the classification category and the distribution of the consumable use for print jobs in the category. The estimate is adjusted by a consumable use adjustment factor that reflects the amount of ink or toner disposed of during container replacement or wasted during printing operations.

Abstract

A printing system uses different color quality values to set quality levels for color printing operations. When creating a calibration for a paper, a color quality attribute is defined that corresponds with the level of color printing quality for the calibration. The resulting calibration is stored with the color quality attribute. The calibration is used to create an ICC profile that is used in color printing operations for the paper. Print jobs may indicate the color quality attribute for the paper for color printing such that the calibration and ICC profile are selected.

Abstract

Systems and methods relate generally to graphics and image processing by a printing device. In such a method, a graphics orderlist is obtained by a printer engine. The graphics orderlist has at least one imaging issue for printing an associated image. A debug mode is entered for debugging the graphics orderlist. A selection for a debug region is received. A graphic order of the graphics orderlist is executed by a graphic execution unit of the printer engine in the debug mode. The graphic execution unit determines whether the debug region is accessed by the execution of the graphic order. Responsive to the debug region being accessed for the execution of the graphic order, an interrupt is issued. Information of the graphic order and buffer contents associated with the debug region is stored in a log file.

Abstract

A user interface works with a conflicts engine and print driver to check and prevent conflicts between the attributes related to job settings of a print job. Constraints are defined by the printing device. These constraints put limits on what can be printed. Job settings are selected for the print job by the operator using a user interface. Attributes related to the job settings are determined. Constraints are adjusted by values for the attributes. Potential conflicts are determined using the adjusted constraints and a property of the print job.

Abstract

A spot color adjustment system allows an operator to adjust spot colors through the use of test charts printed at a printing device. A target color swatch is determined from a first spot color. A test chart is generated based on the target color swatch that includes a plurality of rings of color swatches centered on the target color swatch. Each ring of color swatches is positioned around the target color swatch at an adjustment value. The adjustment value for each ring of color swatches corresponds to a color change from the target color swatch. The system allows for determining a number of rings of color swatches depending on a selected paper size. The outer rings of a large number of rings of color include intermediary color swatches. A midpoint color is determined from a plurality of selected color swatches. The system provides color swatches showing gray component replacement.

Abstract

An object of the present invention is to correct the deviation of a sheet in the width direction occurring on a conveyance path from a sheet correction mechanism (4) to a discharge tray. A sheet shift portion (41, 43, 44) moves a sheet in the width direction. A conveying position detecting portion (45, 46, 47) detects the position of the sheet in the width direction. A discharge position detecting portion (54, 8a) detects a discharge position of the sheet, in the width direction, discharged onto a discharge tray (33) in a sheet discharge portion (31). A control portion (8b) derives an amount of deviation between the discharge position and a discharge reference position based on a detection result of the discharge position detecting portion (54, 8a). Furthermore, the control portion (8b) corrects a conveying position of the sheet in a sheet conveying portion according to the amount of deviation.

Abstract

An image forming apparatus includes an image carrying member, a charging device, an exposure device, a developing device, a control section, and a temperature detecting device. The developing device includes a developer carrying member having an outer circumferential surface on which a toner layer is formed, and a regulation blade that regulates a thickness of the toner layer. The control section executes speed reduction control to reduce a rotation speed of the developer carrying member at a time of warming-up. When a printing operation to be performed after the warming-up is intermittent printing and an interval of the intermittent printing is not less than a prescribed time or a temperature detected by the temperature detecting device is not more than a prescribed temperature, the control section reduces the rotation speed of the developer carrying member in the speed reduction control to a second speed lower than the first speed.

Abstract

An image forming apparatus includes an image carrying member, a charging device, an exposure device, a developing device, and a control section. The developing device includes a development container for containing a non-magnetic one-component developer composed only of a toner, a developer carrying member having an outer circumferential surface on which a toner layer is formed, and a regulation blade that regulates a thickness of the toner layer. The control section executes speed reduction control to reduce a rotation speed of the developer carrying member at a time of warming-up before image formation to a first speed lower than a reference speed at a time of the image formation. In the speed reduction control, the control section raises the rotation speed of the developer carrying member at a first acceleration rate until the first speed is reached from a state where rotation of the developer carrying member is stopped.

Abstract

An inkjet ink contains a quinacridone pigment, a resin, and an aqueous medium. A 50-fold dilution of a supernatant obtained by centrifugating the inkjet ink at 1,050,000 G for 3 hours has a phosphorous concentration of at least 1.0 ppm and no greater than 6.0 ppm. On an ultraviolet-visible absorption spectrum of the supernatant, a first peak appears at a first absorbance of at least 0.16 and no greater than 0.40. The first peak is a maximum peak in a wavelength range of the ultraviolet-visible absorption spectrum of at least 300 nm and no greater than 340 nm. On the ultraviolet-visible absorption spectrum of the supernatant, a second peak appears at a second absorbance of at least 0.15 and no greater than 0.80. The second peak is a maximum peak in a wavelength range of the ultraviolet-visible absorption spectrum of at least 400 nm and no greater than 490 nm.
