Abstract

FEEDSTUFF FOR SWINE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A feedstuff for swine containing 0.001% to 0.1% by weight of L-tryptophan or its salt, in addition to a required amount of L-tryptophan component, together with the other essential constituents. The inclusion of the additional L-tryptophan or its salt results in increases in milk yields and body weight of dams, an increase in growth rate of farrows, a reduction of recurrence days of estrus, and an increase in the body weight gain of fattening pigs or hogs. A method for formulating the feedstuff containing the additional amount of L-tryptophan or its salt is also presented.
