A magazine extension for attachment to an open bottom of a magazine tube having a pair of sidewalls, a pair of end walls, and a flange on at least each of the sidewalls at the bottom. The extension includes an extension body having open first and second ends and forward and rear walls. The first open end of the extension body is slidably attachable to the sidewall flanges at the bottom end of a magazine tube. A bottom closure member is removably slidably attached to the open second end of the body and movable between open and closed positions. A latch member is slidably attached to a wall of the extension body to move toward and away from the magazine tube and open ends of the extension body. The latch member releasably secures the extension body to the magazine tube when moved toward the magazine tube and first open end of the extension body.

Abstract

A handguard for attachment to a standard AR-pattern firearm upper receiver. A barrel nut has a substantially cylindrical outer surface with an annular groove. A handguard sleeve has an end opening configured to slide over the outer surface of the barrel nut, a channel with a bottom guide surface, and a substantially transverse cross bore positioned to at least partially intersect the end opening to align with the annular groove when the handguard sleeve is positioned on the barrel nut. A pair of wedge members are sized to be received in the channel and connected by at least one wedge fastener configured to adjustably move the wedge members together. When the barrel nut is attached to an upper receiver, the handguard sleeve is attached to the upper receiver by sliding the end opening over the barrel nut and inserting a cross bolt fastener in the cross bore and a portion of the annular groove. The wedge members are pulled together by adjusting the wedge fastener, compressing them between the barrel nut and handguard sleeve.

Abstract

A method of locking a handguard relative to an upper receiver of a firearm. The method includes providing a wedge assembly having a top wedge member and a bottom wedge member, each having complementary inclined surfaces; a barrel nut that is configured to receive an outer portion of an upper receiver; and a handguard that is configured to receive the barrel nut and the combined wedge assembly within a lower lip of the handguard. The wedge assembly may include an optional assembly screw and a locator pin where the top wedge member and bottom wedge member are tightly joined to each other via the assembly screw and the locator pin. In use, the lock-up system is used to join the handguard and barrel nut to a corresponding upper receiver with little to no play between the handguard and the upper receiver such that the connection between the two via the wedge assembly is intended to be permanent.

Abstract

A charging handle having a base and a substantially perpendicularly-oriented cross-member. The cross-member is configured to be received longitudinally within an upper receiver for a firearm with the base being positioned fully forward of the upper receiver. The charging handle further includes a spring-biased charging handle latch that pivots about a fulcrum pin. The charging handle latch has an upper arm and a lower arm. The upper arm includes an angled surface that, when engaged, contacts an upper edge of a charging handle latch pocket within a side of the upper receiver. The lower arm is biased by a compression spring that is positioned within a bore of the base. When engaged, the angled surface of the upper arm is retained within the latch pocket of the upper receiver and creates an angle relative to an imaginary centerline of the charging handle cross-member.

Abstract

An integrated leveler assembly in combination with a rail portion for an upper receiver and a handguard, where the upper receiver and handguard are core components of a modular rifle assembly. The integrated leveler assembly is configured to fit within a slot formed between the two aligned end-to-end rail portions such that the integrated leveling assembly may not extend above the combined rail portions and the rail portions form a single aligned rail platform. The integrated leveler assembly includes a liquid-filled level vial that forms a bubble, a level vial barrel receiver, and fasteners to secure the integrated leveler assembly to the two rail portions of the rail platform. The integrated leveler assembly may include an extension spring, guide slot, lock pin, and cam lock, along with a separate barrel that axially receives the level vial receiver with an extension spring between the level vial receiver and the barrel.
