Abstract

An automatic adjustable buttstock system for a small arms weapon including a buttstock and a pair of parallel rails adapted to slidably mount the buttstock on a body of the weapon, each rail having a plurality of female locking slots along its length. A lock block is employed having a pivotable spring-loaded locking lever and a pair of locking tabs adapted to engage the female locking slots disposed along the length of each rail. A volute spring disposed between a rear wall of the lock block and a cavity in the buttstock is adapted to rearward bias the buttstock towards a fully extended position.

Abstract

An adjustable free-float forend/handguard mounting assembly for a small arms weapon, for attaching a forend/handguard to the small arms weapon. The assembly includes a barrel nut having internal female threads at a forward end and internal female threads at an opposite rearward end and having a plurality of radial utility holes. The assembly further includes a jam ring having internal cylindrical surfaces and having a plurality of threaded radial mounting holes, a washer, and a jam bolt having a hollow cylindrical body with a rearwardly extending externally male threaded portion and a forward external collar portion. The jam ring is rotatingly supported on its internal cylindrical surfaces for free rotation about the male threaded portion and the forward external collar portion of the jam bolt. The washer and the jam ring have similar internal diameters and are each similarly mounted on the jam bolt. The rearwardly extending externally male threaded portion of the jam bolt is adapted to engage with the internal female threads at the forward end of the barrel nut.

Abstract

A gas operating system for engaging the automatic or semi-automatic action of small arms. The system has a short, displaceable cylinder with a gas block ring secured thereto, a short, fixed piston attached coaxially to a gun barrel, and a single locking nut, advantageously in the form of a threaded flash suppressor. The piston includes gas block rings at its rearward exterior surfaces. The cylinder has a short stroke between radial forward and rear stops fixed on the barrel, which short stroke may be finely adjusted by threaded axial displacement of the rear stop. Pressurized combustion gas from fired ammunition fills a gas chamber formed by the interiors of the piston and cylinder, the gas entering through radial ports in the barrel. The system may be machined and assembled/disassembled with ease and may be readily adapted for employment in any small arms. The system may be fine tuned for usage with a wide spectrum of ammunition.
