Abstract

A system for isolating a power conductor includes a power conductor that extends between first and second flanking support structures. First and second collars are connected respectively to the first and second flanking support structures. The first and second collars each at least partially surround the power conductor and including respective first and second open tracks that cooperate with each other to define a sheet-receiving slot. An electrically insulating/insulative sheet is located in the sheet- receiving slot and extends continuously between the first and second collars. The sheet is secured in covering relation with the power conductor.

Abstract

A connector system is provided for use in power applications, such as for conveying three phase power in electrical enclosures. The system comprises plug assemblies in which a power conductor is mounted in a floating arrangement with elastically deformable conductive structures extending from either side thereof. A mating receptacle may be mounted on a bus conductor. Three such arrangements may be provided for conveying three phase power. The structures allow for plug-in mating of the system components while accommodating considerable translational and angular misalignment between the connector parts.

Abstract

Power conversion systems and methods are presented for detecting filter capacitor resonance conditions in a power conversion system in which filter currents are measured and filtered using a bandpass filter, and one or more computed mean, RMS, and/or Fourier transform values are computed based on the filtered value(s). The computed measurement value or values are compared with a predetermined threshold and a suspected filter capacitor resonance condition is selectively identified based on comparison result.

Abstract

Methods and system for sensing current include detecting current through a sensing coil resulting from a field produced by current through a primary conductor. The sensing coil has a core that may become saturated by the primary current field. If the core is not saturated, a sensing circuit may detect the current through the sensing coil by changing the state of at least one controlled switch. If the core is saturated, the sensing circuit changes the state of the at least one controlled switch to pull the core out of saturation, at which time a current measurement is made. The technique may be used with AC currents, including changing currents, as well as with DC currents, and currents that may be AC at times and become essentially DC at other times.

Abstract

A disconnect is coupled to a rotary shaft communicating with a door-mounted knob provides an operator on the shaft for engaging the door handle to detect closure of the door. The operator includes a pair of coupling mechanisms that control the transmission of torque between the operator and the shaft depending on whether the door is open or closed. Specifically, when the door is closed, torque applied to the operator in both directions is transmitted to the shaft. If the door is open, torque applied to the operator is only transmitted in one direction to disconnect power through the disconnect unless the user performs a predetermined sequence of events to rotatably the operator to the shaft with respect to rotation in the opposite direction that connects power through the disconnect. When the door is open the operator may be easily used to disconnect power by may be used to connect power only when the user manipulates the operator in a certain way.
