Abstract

According to an embodiment, an ink jet head (liquid ejecting head) includes an actuator plate and a cover plate (see FIG. 8). As illustrated in FIG. 1, channel grooves for a discharge channel (ejection channel) and a non-discharge channel (non-ejection channel) in a Z-direction are formed on a front surface of the actuator plate, so as to be alternately arranged in an X-direction, by cutting with a dicing blade or the like. The discharge channel and the non-discharge channel are formed to have a groove width W of smaller than 70 μm, in order to correspond to high density of nozzles. In the embodiment, the discharge channel and the non-discharge channel are formed to have a groove width of 55 μm, 50 μm, or 40 μm, for example.

Abstract

Channel grooves for a discharge channel and a non-discharge channel are formed in the surface of an actuator plate by cutting. The discharge channel includes an extension portion and a raise-and-cut portion, and the non-discharge channel also includes an extension portion and a raise-and-cut portion. In an embodiment, an electrode clearance groove is formed in advance by cutting with a dicing blade or the like. After the electrode clearance groove is formed, an electrode is formed by plating. Since plating is performed after the electrode clearance groove is formed, a clearance groove electrode is integrally formed with an AP-side common pad in the electrode clearance groove, and thus the clearance groove electrode and the AP-side common pad are short-circuited. Thus, an electrode separation portion is formed by cutting a short-circuited portion of the clearance groove electrode and the AP-side common pad through cutting or irradiation with laser.

Abstract

A discharge channel and a non-discharge channel are formed to have a similar shape, that is, to include extension portions and raise-and-cut portions continuing from end portions of both the extension portions, respectively. Then, imparting of a catalyst, washing of an unnecessary catalyst, plating, and the like are performed on a target surface, as a plating step. In an embodiment, an electrode clearance groove is formed after the plating step. Since channel grooves for the discharge channel and the non-discharge channel have a similar shape, it is possible to cause a water flow to uniformly flow in the channels when washing is performed, and thus to avoid an occurrence of a situation in which a lump is formed in the channel groove by plating.

A liquid jet head according to an example of the disclosure includes a nozzle adapted to jet a liquid, a piezoelectric actuator having a pressure chamber communicated with the nozzle and filled with the liquid, and adapted to vary a capacity of the pressure chamber, and a control section adapted to apply a pulse signal to the piezoelectric actuator to thereby expand and contract the capacity of the pressure chamber so as to jet the liquid filling the pressure chamber. The control section applies the pulse signal adapted to expand the capacity in the pressure chamber when jetting 1 drop of the liquid so as to include a first pulse signal having a pulse width one of equal to or shorter than an on-pulse peak, and a second pulse signal disposed with a predetermined time interval from the first pulse signal.

Abstract

An ejection volume of a liquid can more finely be adjusted without lowering the ejection speed. The liquid jet head includes a plurality of nozzles adapted to jet the liquid, a piezoelectric actuator having a plurality of pressure chambers corresponding respectively to the nozzles and filled with the liquid, and adapted to vary a capacity of each of the pressure chambers, and a control section adapted to apply a pulse signal to the piezoelectric actuator to thereby expand and contract the capacity of the pressure chamber so as to jet the liquid with which the pressure chamber is filled. The control section generates a drive waveform including a plurality of the pulse signals adapted to expand the capacity of the pressure chamber, and sets a crest value of either of the pulse signals other than the pulse signal applied last to a different value from a crest value of another of the pulse signals in the drive waveform.

Abstract

A liquid jet head includes a head portion having a supply flow path configured to allow liquid supplied from the outside to flow therethrough, a pressure chamber that communicates with the supply flow path, a driver element that drives the pressure chamber, and a nozzle that communicates with the pressure chamber for ejecting liquid droplets. A circuit portion supplies a drive waveform to the driver element. A cooling portion has a cooling flow path configured to allow the liquid to flow therethrough, and the cooling portion is coupled and fixed to the circuit portion to absorb heat energy dissipated by the circuit portion. The supply flow path and the cooling flow path communicate with each other so that the same liquid flows through both paths thereby eliminating the need for a dedicated cooling liquid system and achieving size and cost reduction.

Abstract

A liquid jet head has spaced-apart side walls that form alternating ejection channels and non-ejection channels. The side walls comprise two piezoelectric materials polarized in opposite directions and laminated together with a polarization boundary interposed between them. Upper and lower members are fixed to respective upper and lower ends of the side walls and overlie upper and lower ends of the channels. Electrodes on opposed wall surfaces of the side walls extend from the upper ends of the side walls to either the vicinity of the polarization boundary or to below the polarization boundary and above the lower ends of the side walls. The polarization boundary is positioned above one-half the depth of the channels to improving the driving efficiency of the piezoelectric body.

A liquid jet head includes an actuator substrate on which a plurality of grooves is arranged, and a nozzle plate having nozzle holes communicated with the grooves. Drive electrodes extend in the longitudinal direction along both side surfaces of a wall portion of the grooves. An insulating film is disposed between the wall portion and the longitudinal end portions of the drive electrodes so that only the mid-portion of the drive elecrodes directly contacts the side surfaces of the wall portion. Abstract

A liquid jet unit includes a circulation path through which liquid is circulated, and a liquid jet head having an inflow port and an outflow port between which is disposed a flow path forming a part of the circulation path, and a nozzle communicating with the flow path and configured to eject liquid from the liquid jet head. A liquid pump is inserted into the circulation path for circulating liquid in the circulation path. A supply path is connected to the circulation path for supplying liquid to the circulation path. A pressure sensor detects the pressure of liquid in the circulation path and generates corresponding pressure information. The liquid pump is configured to change an amount of liquid to be fed on the basis of the pressure information generated to maintain liquid in the nozzle at a predetermined pressure and draw liquid into the circulation path from the supply path.

Abstract

A liquid jet head includes a nozzle plate having a first nozzle row and a second nozzle row each formed of a plurality of nozzles; and a piezoelectric plate having a plurality of first ejection grooves communicating with respective ones of the plurality of nozzles of the first nozzle row, and a plurality of second ejection grooves communicating with respective ones of the plurality of nozzles of the second nozzle row. The plurality of first ejection grooves and the plurality of second ejection grooves are longitudinally separated from each other in the longitudinal direction of the grooves by a partition wall located between the plurality of first ejection grooves and the plurality of second ejection grooves.

Abstract

A liquid jet head includes a flow path member having a supply port through which liquid is supplied and a discharge port through which the liquid is discharged, and a cover plate having a liquid supply chamber that communicates with the supply port and a liquid discharge chamber that communicates with the discharge port. An actuator substrate has a plurality of parallel channels that extend between the liquid supply chamber and the liquid discharge chamber and the channels communicate with respective nozzles formed in a nozzle plate. The flow path member, cover plate, actuator substrate and nozzle plate constitute a laminated structure. A communication path is provided in one or both of the cover plate and flow path member for bypassing the liquid from the liquid supply chamber to the liquid discharge chamber so that air bubbles trapped in the liquid can be effectively discharged to the outside.
