A firearm stock includes a stock body slidably mounted on a beam. A lever attached to the stock body can be moved between a locked position, a first unlocked position, and a second unlocked position, where operating the lever moves a locking mechanism between locked and unlocked positions. For example, when the lever is in the first unlocked position, the locking mechanism permits longitudinal adjustment of the stock body along the beam. When the lever is in the second unlocked position the locking mechanism permits the stock body to be slidably removed from the beam. In one example, the lower portion of the stock body defines a plurality of cam pathways for pins that secure the lever to the stock body. Forward cam pathways permit either a pivoting movement about the rear pin or a downward and forward shifting movement.
A magazine for rimmed cartridges includes a magazine tube having first left and right ribs on an inside of the magazine tube extend inward from a forward portion of opposite sidewalls and are laterally spaced by a first spacing. Second left and right ribs on an inside of the magazine tube extend inward from a rear portion of opposite sidewalls and are laterally spaced by a second spacing that is greater than the first spacing. When the magazine is filled to capacity with rimmed cartridges, cartridges in the magazine are arranged in two offset columns with projectiles of the rimmed cartridges laterally spaced from a median plane by a first distance and rims of the rimmed cartridges laterally spaced from the median plane by a second distance that is greater than the first distance. Also disclosed is a baseplate that attaches to a magazine tube using a snap fit.
A breechblock assembly includes a breechblock configured to reciprocate along a top of the firearm receiver between a recoil position and a battery position. An actuator is coupled to the breechblock and is configured to move between first and second positions. A lever on the breechblock in contact with the actuator is movable between a blocking position and a non-blocking position. For example, the lever is generally oriented along the central axis and extends rearward beyond a proximal face of the breechblock. When the actuator is in the first position, the lever is in the blocking position. When the actuator is in the second position the lever is in the non-blocking position. When assembled in a firearm, an end of the lever is positioned to block the hammer from striking the firing pin when the breechblock is out of battery by more than a predefined distance.
A firearm including a barrel bushing is disclosed. The barrel bushing provides for guidance of the slide without a need for forward rails. The barrel bushing is retained by a bushing stop that allows the slide to be removed while the recoil spring and bushing are retained on the barrel.

A bipod assembly includes a first yoke configured to be attached to a firearm. A second yoke is pivotably attached to the first yoke. Right and left legs are pivotably connected to the second yoke and movable between an open position and a closed position. The bipod assembly is movable between a stowed and locked position, a stowed and unlocked position, a deployed and unlocked position, and a deployed and locked position. In a locked position, part of each leg engages the first yoke to maintain the leg's open or closed position as well as the leg's deployed or stowed position. The bipod assembly enables one-hand deployment from a stowed state.

The visual indicator may include one or more LEDs positioned on the periphery of the field of view, and may be optically coupled to an appropriate position on the face of the reticle using a suitable waveguide. The LEDs are coupled to a microprocessor which is, in turn, coupled to a solid-state electronic inclinometer that is incorporated into the internal structure of the optical system. A hinge joint includes first and second hinge leaves pivotably mounted on a hinge pin, where the hinge joint is operable between open and closed positions. The hinge joint has a locking mechanism that prevents opening the hinge joint from a closed position until the locking mechanism is moved to the unlocked position. In one example, the locking mechanism includes a plunger retained in the hinge pin. When the plunger is depressed, one or more protrusions can move from a blocking position to a non-blocking position. In some embodiments, the locking mechanism must be moved to the unlocked position prior to opening the hinge joint. The locking mechanism may be used alone or in combination with engagement structures between the first and second hinge leaves. The hinge joint can be part of a folding rifle stock assembly or other hinged assembly.
A flash hider is configured to reduce a firearm's visible signature. The flash hider extends along a central axis from a proximal end to a distal end. The proximal end defines a central opening to an expanding central volume of a first flash hider portion. One or more outer volumes are located radially outside of the central volume and can be part of first and/or second flash hider portions. When the outer volumes are part of the first flash hider portion, the outer volumes can communicate with the central volume. Optionally, a second flash hider portion includes one or more gas passageways located radially outside of the central volume. For example, gas passageways are interspersed circumferentially with outer volumes of the first flash hider portion, where the gas passageways are isolated from first flash hider portion and receive gas flows via vent openings in the outer wall.
A charging handle for a firearm includes a longitudinal body with a proximal end portion and a distal end portion. The proximal end portion includes at least one latch lever operable between a first position and a second position, the latch lever including a blocking plate. Moving the handle from the first position to the second position moves the blocking plate from a blocking position to a non-blocking position. The charging handle can be used with a firearm that includes a protrusion extending up from the rear-end portion of the lower receiver or from the recoil assembly. In the blocking position, the blocking plate is aligned with the protrusion and prevents the charging handle from rearward movement. When the blocking plate is in the non-blocking position, the blocking plate clears the protrusion to permit the charging handle to be drawn rearward.
A sighting device includes a base portion structured to be mounted to a gun, a battery powered accessory, and a battery receiver structured to contain a battery for the battery powered accessory. The battery receiver has a closed position in which the battery receiver is contained within the base portion as well as an open position in which the battery receiver is at least partially separated from the base portion. A dual-emitter micro-dot sight comprising a sight housing configured to mount to a shooting device, a first and a second light emitter each coupled to the sight housing, a beam combiner, a collimating lens, and a diverging lens. The beam combiner is configured to receive light from each of the first and the second light emitters and to guide the light to an optical path. The collimating lens is in the optical path and is configured to collimate the light from each of the first and the second light emitters. The diverging lens is in the optical path between the beam combiner and the collimating lens, and the diverging lens is configured to spread the light from each of the first and the second light emitters. The dual-emitter micro-dot sight may include windage and elevation adjustment mechanisms that are separate and independent for each of the first and the second light emitters.

A firearm stock with adjustable length of pull and/or comb height is disclosed. In one example, a butt plate assembly includes a tongue defining top and bottom chamfered outside edges. A stock body defines top and bottom chamfered inside edges along a slot opening. Moving a locking assembly to a locked position draws the chamfered outside edges on the tongue against the chamfered inside edges along the slot opening. A locking plate can be used between the fastener and the tongue. In another example, an adjustable comb assembly includes a cheek plate with posts received in post openings that extend into the stock body. A locking lever is coupled to a fastener that extends laterally through the stock body. Moving the lever to the locked position draws together opposite sides of the stock body to constrain the post openings, thereby retaining the position of the comb.
A suppressor for a firearm includes a baffle stack having an outer surface, the baffle stack comprising a plurality of baffles that define an inner chamber coaxially aligned with a central axis of the baffle stack and a projectile pathway through the baffle stack along the central axis. A handgun slide has a slide body extending longitudinally and includes sides extending down from a top surface. A proximal end portion of the slide body defines a recess configured to receive a sight assembly. A sight assembly can be installed in the recess of the slide by placing the sight assembly in the recess, followed by securing the assembly to the slide. In its installed configuration, at least part of the sight assembly's point-of-aim indicator is recessed below the top surface of the slide.
A suppressor has a suppressor body extending from a proximal end portion to a distal end plate. The suppressor defines an inner chamber with a plurality of baffles and a plurality of outer chambers located radially outside of the inner chamber between the suppressor body and an outer housing. An integral flash hider is located in the distal end portion of the suppressor and exits through a central exit opening in the distal end plate. A method of indicating an aiming adjustment in a riflescope of a shooting device. The method includes receiving, at a controller in the riflescope, a ballistics solution signal, the ballistics solution signal corresponding to a path of a projectile to be fired from the shooting device toward a target; receiving, at the controller, a first electronic signal corresponding to a position of an elevation adjustment selector of the riflescope relative to a zero point of the elevation adjustment selector; determining, by the controller, a magnitude and a direction of an aiming adjustment based on at least the first electronic signal and the ballistics solution signal; and activating an electronic indicator to provide a notification signal to a user, the notification signal conveying the magnitude and the direction of the aiming adjustment.
A charging handle assembly includes a body extending along a longitudinal axis and having a proximal end portion and a distal end portion. A handle is connected to the proximal end portion of the body and is translatable along the body between a first position and a second position. A latch is connected to the handle or the body and is operable between a latched position and an unlatched position. Moving the handle from the first position to the second position moves the latch from the latched position to the unlatched position. Also disclosed is a charging handle assembly with a latch configured to engage a top of the lower receiver.

An electronic indicator on a see-through optical scope indicates whether an optical system is canted. The indicator may include illuminable visual indicators positioned on opposite sides of a field of view through the optical scope. The indicator may be visual, haptic, or aural. The visual indicator may include one or more LEDs positioned on the periphery of the field of view, and may be optically coupled to an appropriate position on the face of the reticle using a suitable waveguide. The LEDs are coupled to a microprocessor which is, in turn, coupled to a solid-state electronic inclinometer that is incorporated into the internal structure of the optical system. The microprocessor is configured to selectively illuminate one or more of the visual indicators based on the output of the inclinometer, thereby indicating how the reticle is canted, if at all.

Techniques and architectures are disclosed for a gas operating system for a firearm. The system includes a barrel having a bore including a rifled portion. Attached to the barrel is a gas block. Located distally of the rifled portion of the bore is a gas expansion chamber in fluid communication with the bore and the gas block. In some examples, the gas expansion chamber includes a diameter at least twice the bore diameter. The gas block of the gas operating system, in some examples, includes a piston, where in response to receiving gases from the gas expansion chamber, the piston cycles the gas operating system.
A method of establishing a cant sensitivity level for an optical sighting system for a shooting device, the method comprising: receiving a range measurement; establishing a cant sensitivity based, at least in part, on the range measurement; determining a cant of the shooting device relative to a vertical transverse axis of the main optical axis of the optical system; activating, when the cant of the shooting device exceeds the cant sensitivity, an electronic cant indicator structured to provide an indicator signal to a user; and deactivating the electronic cant indicator when the cant of the shooting device does not exceed the cant sensitivity.
A mounting assembly for a firearm muzzle attachment includes an attachment mount with a clutch assembly. A muzzle attachment can be secured to the distal end portion of the attachment mount. The attachment mount is configured to removably attach the muzzle attachment to a muzzle adapter installed on the end of a barrel. A clutch assembly on the attachment mount is operable between a locked position and an unlocked position. In the locked position, the clutch assembly frictionally engages the muzzle adapter to inhibit loosening rotation of the muzzle attachment relative to the muzzle adapter. In the unlocked position, the clutch assembly disengages from the muzzle adapter to permit loosening rotation of the attachment mount relative to the muzzle adapter. An apparatus and method for a slotted trigger actuation mechanism for a firearm are described herein. The slotted trigger actuation mechanism may be a slotted trigger bar interface. The slotted trigger bar interface may serve to increase a distance of trigger pull required to execute firing ammunition. A trigger body may comprise a trigger bias for increasing trigger work. The apparatus and method described herein may help to improve results during drop safety testing.
A multi-piece ammunition cartridge casing includes a casing base extending along a central axis and defining an opening extending axially into the casing base from the distal base end. The inner casing surface defines a circumferential groove with a groove radius greater than a radius of an adjacent portion of the opening. A handguard attachment assembly for a firearm is disclosed. The assembly includes a handguard with an elongate structure extending between a first end and a second end, where the handguard has at least one opening proximate the first end. A flange insert is received in an opening on a first side of the handguard and engages the handguard. A fastener secures the flange insert to a connector positioned over the barrel nut. The fastener can be tightened to draw the handguard to the barrel nut.
