The banknote recycling terminal (100) comprises: a main conveying channel (101) configured to convey paper currency; a banknote case (103) configured to store paper currency; the transition channel (105, 107, 109, 111, 113) configured to connect the main conveying channel (101) and the banknote case (103); and a drive device (127) configured to drive the paper currency to move. The method for cleaning the transition channel (105, 107, 109, 111, 113) comprises: detecting whether there is paper currency in the transition channel (105, 107, 109, 111, 113) (S10); and in response to a detection result indicating that it is detected that there is paper currency in the transition channel (105, 107, 109, 111, 113), driving the paper currency in the transition channel (105, 107, 109, 111, 113) to enter the banknote case (103) or the main conveying channel (101) (S20).
